Role:Azure Architect

Must-have experience:

Azure Cloud Service No specific services – really want to see them all but did talk a bit about how they use Azure App Services, APIM, Azure Monitoring, etc. Want someone who has done some architecture work as well as engineering – don’t have to have had the architect title necessarily but have to have done that work

Nice to have:

8+ years of experience (Expert-level bracket) Azure Solution Architect Certification (AZ-303/304) This is a must if coming in at Expert level and a very strong want for senior

Job Summary:

As a senior cloud architect, you will play a key role in supporting the required architecture for cloud computing environments and providing guidance on the implementation of cloud architecture on complex projects. The senior cloud architect will work with the expert cloud architect and collaborate with cloud engineers to ensure the cloud strategy implemented correctly to support the automation and deployment of cloud infrastructure and services. The senior cloud architect will work as part of the team to architect, engineer, deploy, and operationally manage the underlying logical and physical cloud computing infrastructure for hosting and application development.

Key Accountabilities:

• Works with cross-functional team to implement technical requirements for key architectural drivers of cloud computing and raises technical constraints for resolution and participates in resolution. • Responsible for designning complex architectures and transition states to get to end state/vision • Continuous cloud learning, demonstrates high degree of initiative • Consistently proposes new or improved ways of performing functions • Can balance current state and transition thinking to future state • Aggressively looks for ways to improve products and architectures • Coordinate across vendors, suppliers, and internal teams • Provides technical input on specific technology components and solutions that satisfy business, technology, security, and regulatory objectives. • Provides technical acumen for cloud services and areas such as cloud application development, scalability, and integration. • Supports junior team members in technical and agile principles while working on various product teams to support a myriad of complex digital initiatives across the business. • Provides technical input to support the cloud environments that host DTE cloud applications. • Stays abreast of emerging technologies to determine impact to our cloud computing strategy. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements : This is a multi-track base requirement job; education and experience requirements can be satisfied through one of the following three options: • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience in technology field, inclusive of 3 years with systems development and systems architecture, software architecture, design, and implementation of cloud initiatives leveraging agile and development and operations (DevOps) methodologies; OR • Associate degree and 10 years of experience in technology field, inclusive of 3 years with systems development and systems architecture, software architecture, design, and implementation of cloud initiatives leveraging agile and development and operations (DevOps) methodologies; OR • High school diploma or GED and 12 years in technology field, inclusive of 3 years with systems development and systems architecture, software architecture, design, and implementation of cloud initiatives leveraging agile and development and operations (DevOps) methodologies

Additional requirements include:

• Industry recognized architecture certification, preferred • Experience supporting and implementing strategies for deploying and automating cloud infrastructure and platform services, including zero downtime deployment strategies such as red/black or blue/green deployments. • Experience supporting and implementing strategies for horizontally and vertically scaling, sync/async, BASE/ACID, multi-zone, and/or multi-region applications. • Substantial understanding of software development lifecycles and cloud economics, including knowledge of consumption-driven total cost of ownership • Knowledgeable in the security implications of public & private cloud infrastructure design • Understanding of network architectures suitable for different cloud topologies with familiarity with SLO, SLA, and OLAs for cloud services and organizations

Preferred Qualifications

• • TOGAF 9.2 Certification • Microsoft Azure Architect certification or 2 years experience as a cloud solution architect in Microsoft Azure

• NOTES:

We need someone with Platform as a service experience (PaaS). Infrastructure as a service is also needed (IaaS) but PaaS is more important. Candidates also need to have a Java/Javascript background. Also, candidates would ideally have an Azure certification. Ideally AZ303 and AZ304. But if it is AZ 300 that is okay. If they don’t have a certification, that is also okay. We need someone who does application architecture but knows Azure EXTREMELY well and has worked as more of a platform architect on Azure.
