Data Engineers are engaged in all phases of the software development lifecycle which include gathering and analyzing user/business system requirements, application integration, design, development, and support (defect, patch management, and outage resolution). In addition, Data Engineers are responsible for determining how data is sourced, assembled and conveyed into our multi-channel orchestration platform to target, personalize, and execute cross-channel marketing at scale. Data engineers participate in design meetings and consult with business clients to refine, test, and debug to achieve business and technology goals. This is an advanced-level role occupied by those demonstrating in-depth technical and/or business knowledge within their respective areas of specialization. Job Description: Consults with business and architects to develop and document requirements. Analyzes and influences technical and system requirements. Applies technical expertise to plan, analyze, design, build, validate, implement, and support solutions. Identifies and creates solutions to improve system performance and availability. Facilitates root cause analysis of system issues to minimize impact and future occurrences. Analyzes and designs specifications for less experienced team members to execute. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree 6 or more years of software development, database system development, or systems development experience demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific I/T discipline(s)/technology(s) Large scale relational database, data lake, or data warehouse experience with a strong grasp of SQL, to access, analyze, and assemble data to meet requirements. Must be a team player and demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals. Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level. Preferred Requirements Strong development expertise in DataStage (Version 9.5 or Higher) with experience in processing high volume jobs, UNIX scripting and debugging, Oracle, Control-M 2+ years of experience with various scripting languages (Python/PowerShell/Perl) Experience using Kafka (with Python, Java, or equivalent) Java development experience ETL Administration, performance tuning and troubleshooting. This is an enterprise support role, focused on building, managing and optimizing data pipelines for key data and analytics consumers (business/data analysts that need curated data for data and analytics use cases). The candidate will implement data pipeline solutions within our Microsoft Azure Data Lake environment and associated data warehouse repositories. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Utilize data preparation, integration, storage & analytics tools within the Azure landscape • Design, develop, implement, and support new and existing data pipeline solutions ingested from multiple source systems. • Drive toward automation of repeatable data prep tasks to minimize manual data management processes. • Partner with business unit IT teams to gather, and document analytics solution requirements. • Partner with IT Infrastructure team architects to define, acquire, and deploy cloud services required for a given cloud analytics solution. • Partner with cloud service providers on cloud capabilities for the enterprise. • Partner with the Data Science team and business data analysts on data consumption requirements. • Partner with Data Governance teams on data catalog maintenance and usage. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, related field, or equivalent experience. • Two or more years of experience in an information technology role, including some experience in systems development required with six years of experience supporting reporting and business intelligence solutions on on-premise, and cloud platforms, such as SAP Business Warehouse, SAP HANA, Microsoft Azure Cloud, SQL Server, Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI preferred. SKILLS: • Microsoft SQL experience desired including data warehouse and OLAP concepts. • Batch data ingestion (ETL, ELT) experience desired. • Working experience in visualization tools such as SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence, Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau desired. • Cloud platform certifications are a plus, e.g., Microsoft Azure. • Expertise in developing and deploying analytics solutions on cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure (Data Lakes, Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse).
