About the role
ROLE: Bridge Engineer
LOCATION:Chicago, IL DURATION: FULL TIME
Bridge Engineer Responsibilities: Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and review structural designs, primarily for IDOT bridge projects. Coordinate with project managers and engineering teams to ensure inspections are completed efficiently, safely, and within scheduled timelines. Assist with bridge inspections, working as an integral team member on various inspection projects. Prepare comprehensive written inspection reports documenting findings, observations, recommendations, and necessary corrective actions. Contribute to a team culture by mentoring junior staff, providing training, and supporting their professional development.
Bridge Engineer Basic qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering 1 to 2 years of practical experience in bridge inspection and structural design, specifically utilizing IDOT standards. Candidates with more extensive experience are encouraged to apply. Current status as an IDOT NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader or Program Manager is preferred, but not mandatory. Experience with CDOT and Tollway projects is advantageous. Valid driver’s license.
