About the role
Data Engineers x3 200 ANIMATION DR 200 Animation Drive Lake Buena Vista FL 32830 (2 days onsite / 3 days remote) 12 month contract initially Description: Project Details – Size, Scale, Scope? Org? DPEP. Data at the parks, resorts, cruise lines, Shop Disney. Team is specific to guest profile related data systems. Team size and who they’d be working with on a day to day basis (other data engineers, data scientists, reports developers/analysts)? 40, combination of product, managers, architects, software engineers (1/3), data engineers/scientists (1/3) Day to Day Responsibilities/typical day look like: Will be focused on making sure the logic and code is as optimized as possible. Will need to know how to apply algorithms Looking for python development not scripting Python the primarily language used for the logic. (The logic inside lambdas is being written in Python) Writes the infrastructure and logic with Python Developing Data Pipelines – will be focused on how the data flows (through DynamoDB, Kinesis etc.). Selling Points for Candidates: Perks? What is exciting about position? Company? 1 Cutting edge tech, modern stack, brand new platform Serverless model, really exciting, easier for dev, don’t have to manage infrastructure Awesome team to work with, great company What are the top 3 MUST HAVE technologies or Required experience of the position? AWS (DynamoDB, Kinesis, Lambdas), Python Familiarity with algorithms. That will help optimize logic in order to leverage the lowest computational complexity possible. NICE TO HAVES (OR WHAT GETS THE WIN)? Highly collaborative project, 3 studios (1 uses Snowflake – nice to have) Client Job Description Below: Job Duties: -Design and implement reliable, high-throughput, low latency, scalable and well-documented code to tackle sophisticated algorithms and build cloud infrastructures components -Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and other partners to make proposals across teams on their engineering work and practices -Design low-level implementation details of software, which data structures, class/function/code organization, etc. -Propose technical implementation approaches which support architectural changes that address scaling and performance problems -Proactively seek opportunities to reuse or generalize existing services and implementations -Know the latest new technologies and best approaches in the field of data management and software engineering -Provide technical mentorship and guidance to other members of the team -Conduct code review pull-requests with consistent scrutiny
Please have candidates answer these questions and submit with resume on a different sheet of paper. What is the most algorithmically challenging problem you have ever worked on? What is the highest scale system you have ever worked on (in terms of throughput, latency, etc.)? Provide some details on the scale and challenges. Can you name an algorithm you admire and why? This can be by its simplicity, elegance, usefulness, etc. Give an example of a production system emergency that you had to tend to: what was the issue, why did it happen, how was it solved, and what you learned from it? (This question is not to judge on anyones mistake, but to assess your experience on real-world problems). List some of the software engineering best practices you tend to apply on your day-to-day. GitHub link (or some other link to code repository, blogging, portfolio, etc.)
