Data Engineer/Data Modeler

Title: Data Engineer/Data Modeler Location: Pittsburgh, PA (3 days’ on-site required)—Candidates must be local or open to relocation to work on-site for day 1. Duration: Contract through End of Year with extensions

Day to Day Responsibilities: Mix of Modelling and Engineering Need to understand how data is being sourced, look at the architecture and find ways to improve and optimize data flow How do we source more data overall, create pipelines, create tables, and do other design work Billions and trillions of data points so latency and performance is a constant issue that needs fixing Constantly looking at data structures and models to make sure we implement the right kind of architecture Looking for Candidates who can understand the current data and how it is being sourced into the application. Understand the architecture, optimize it, and help source more data. Create a better data pipeline, create the tables, handle the design. One of the challenges is performance on the dashboard, bringing in billions/trillions of data and with the large volume- need someone strong who can understand the structures, models, and implement the correct architecture.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study 10+ years of progressive experience in Database Development/Data Engineering/Data Warehouse/BI Reporting (Data Management) related functions/roles. Knowledge of connecting to a disparate data stores and combine data to develop reports. Knowledge in financial risk reporting – KRIs and KPIs. Strong experience in SDLC, DevOps processes – CI/CD tools, Git, etc. Knowledge of Scrum and XP methodologies and ability to work in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong desire to improve data quality and performance. Knowledge in data pipelines and snowflake databases Snowflake is a must Data engineering experience Data modeling experience Python OR Java Airflow SQL
