About the role
Position: DB2 DBA Location: Jacksonville, FL (onsite 3x a week) Duration: 12 month contract
Description: Project Details – Size, Scale, Scope How does candidate fit into this Suresh is a Sr. Manager with 4 teams underneath him. This individual will be joining the DBA team consisting of 6 other DBAs spread across various Bank locations. This resource will need to sit in Jacksonville, FL 3 days a week onsite, 2 days remote. Position is open due to workload increase. Team manages all DB2 support for mainframe. BAU support on the database. Big task of moving to secure data. Future need to update to new version of DB2.
Day to Day Responsibilities: Pretty heads down role. A lot of analyzing performance data. Identifying programs and problems. SQL statements and solving issues. Performance tuning. DBA with coding experience- REXX or Python (must have one or the other). REXX – mainframe scripting language.

Client Job Description Below: Responsibilities include full life cycle management of DB2 mainframe databases from analysis through decommission. Additionally, the Individual will be involved in DB2 related z/Os Database initiatives, including DB2 Database Universal Tablespace conversions, Image Copy Backup Remediation, Data replication, Db2 RACF support, Db2 Version 13 migration.
Day to day activities would include: Develop REXX programs to support Database and JIRA activities Develop and implement Recovery strategy to support Cyber MRA activities Support Db2DBA team with database maintenance Conduct information sharing meetings with the application teams when requested Monitoring and addressing items on exception reports to ensure a stable production environment Performance tuning support and recommendations for database calls, in cooperation with the application development team Support of product upgrades related to DB2 upgrade and replication providing a focal communication point for development teams as well as completing owned DBA remediation activities, executing internal verification processes, conducting assessments of new feature/function and providing recommendations for use Support RACF initiatives and support application teamaddressingDb2access issues Position requires in-depth Mainframe DB2 DBA (DB2 on Z/oS) knowledge Individual should have minimum of 7-9 years of DB2 DBA experience on z/Os at a single large financial institution In depth working knowledge of JCL and ISPF Working knowledge QREP and CDC a plus Experience with DB2 Utilities including IBM and BMC Working knowledge of BMC tools including change manager, catalog manager, Main view, and SQL performance Solid understanding of DB2 recovery options Broad understanding of ACF2 and RACF2 managed security for DB2 Access Working knowledge of Endevor Working knowledge of JIRA Working Knowledge of Slunk a plus REXX programming Python programming a plus Strong Verbal and Written Communication skills
