Java Developer

Role: Java Developer Location: Chicago, IL or Charlotte, NC – 100% onsite Duration: 12+ month contract Requirements: 5+ years of experience Core Java Spring Boot SQL OpenShift (preferred) or Kubernetes Description: Role Description - This role is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the role include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. This role ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. These individuals possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns. Primary Level of Engagement: Works as a team member under supervision from a more senior domain expert. Primary Interactions: Product Owner, Scrum Master, Development Team, Feature Lead, Architect and Dev Community of Practice. Key Responsibilities: Contribute to story refinement/defining requirements. Participate estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Perform spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements. Assist team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Required Skills: Strong development skills in Java; Java 17+. Strong working knowledge of Spring Boot. Good programming skills including understanding of algorithms, data structures, design patterns and multi-threading. Experience with large scale, globally distributed systems with an emphasis on high availability. Experience with Agile development practices, Experience in 3rd line production support. Great team player, with an ability to mentor other team members to enable them to become more established in their role. A willingness to get involved at times even when not in the area of expertise. Experience with SQL and RDBMS. Experience of leveraging at-least one NoSQL DB.
