Java Developer with MDM Experience

Role: Java Developer Location: Cincinnati, OH Duration: Long Term Contract Tech (Qualification) Notes: Project Scope / Business Driver: Always new work, but they will also need to support some of the existing apps. Application Landscape / Candidate Requirements: • IBM MDM (this is the primary skill we need to target) – Specifically someone who has customized MDM, not just a user. o Core skills include working in the data model, writing behavior extensions, rules, batch processes and task managers, resolving data quality issues etc. o DSUI – MDM tool they really want someone to have • Kafka / IBM MQ – basic skills • Strong Java skills – Spring framework (boot is nice to have) o SOAP / REST based APIs o Root cause analysis for data failure issues • Shell scripting – look at servers, logs etc. • Basic skills in CI/CD • TDD skills are really nice to have, need someone who can unit test their own code • Basic SQL skills are required, they don’t have to have a lot beyond that o DB2 would be really nice Team Size, Breakdown & Stakeholders: 7 people on the team this person this person would be the 8th + PO & Agilist Development Methodology: Agile – 2 weeks, VersionOne As a Lead Software Engineer, you will help build and support the organization’s MDM platform. One of the most critical systems, MDM is the authoritative source of truth when for customer information, account relationships and more. Currently MDM processes over 9 million transactions a day, with over 25 million parities represented. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Design and implement new features while improving quality of technical products and applications • Create and execute long term vision of technical products and applications • Act as a technical expert and developer on an agile squad • Drive the architecture of solutions across multiple services and applications • Develop software meeting code quality standards and metrics • Practice test-driven development • Guide communities of practice by mentoring developers, creating and enforcing standards, reviewing others code, and sharing knowledge • Achieve operational excellence by automating processes and writing maintainable, supportable, and testable code • Maintain effective partnerships with operations and engineering teams to drive service improvement • Remain current on IT trends pertaining to their area of practice • Assist with problem resolution for end users and customers • Create and update operations procedures for daily routine management processes • Maintain appropriate controls and documentation to ensure compliance of audit requirements • Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • 4+ years of hands on Java development, most recently Java 8 • 4+ years of technical experience including experience in application development, database management and technical architecture • 2+ years of hands on experience with IBM Master Data Management or similar product (such as Informatica) • 2+ years of hands on experience with SQL (IBM DB2 preferred) • Proven track record of working across teams and coaching and supporting junior developers • Basic understanding and experience working with Agile methodologies • Experience leading code reviews, applying changes in a critical system • Knowledge of object-oriented and functional software design • Knowledge of software development best practices • Familiarity with RESTful services • Experience with knowledge of Git and GitHub • Understanding of Software Development Methodologies • Understanding of security best practices • Strong problem-solving skills • Strong collaboration skills
