JAVA PRINCIPAL ENGINEER

Role: Java Principal Engineer

Duration: 12+ months Location: Pittsburgh, PA or Charlotte, NC

Top 3 requirements: 10+ yrs exp, Java 11+, Microservices, Spring boot, AWS beyond S3, EC2

Plusses: BPM Frameworks, Alfresco Activiti, Apache Camel, Have accounting experience, trading experience/fintech background

Required • Java 11+ - very strong • Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Starter, Spring Actuator, etc – Required • AWS experience beyond S3, EC2 – Nice to have CloudFormation, ECS, ECR, AWS CLI, etc – above average • Experience with Microservices, multi-tenancy, white labeling – required • AWS RDS MySQL and PostgreSQL – required • Above the fold • Apache Camel, ETL, ESB • Alfresco Activiti, BPMN 2.0 • Accounting • Experience in FinTech: Accounting, Trading, ACHs, Money Movements, Plaid, • A candidate with Apache Camel and Alfresco Activiti would be highly desired. • Desire to find a candidate that is familiar with multi-tenant platforms

As a PRINCIPAL ENGINEER, reporting directly to the Director of Software Engineering for Core Recordkeeping, your primary objectives will be to scale the core of our platform while ensuring resiliency, maintainability, and observability measurably. We expect you to deliver within a year the capability for Core Recordkeeping to process an order of magnitude more transactions in a single day compared to its current monthly capacity. This role necessitates the application of various techniques to reliably and predictably scale distributed cloud services both vertically and horizontally across the stack. Within three months, we encourage you to leverage your experience in scaling systems to develop dashboards and monitoring tools, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of transactions and activities down to decimal precision. You are expected to demonstrate that we have a measurable, upward trend in code quality at 6-, 9- and 12-month intervals, with a specific focus on comprehensive testing for our most crucial core functionality.

The essential responsibilities and duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: • Embrace a growth mindset and demonstrate commitment to delivering results. • Ensure the delivery of high-quality code that adheres to a defined Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process, coding standards, and quality gates via automated tooling. • Champion a collaborative environment that can deliver on our commitments. • Collaborate with architecture to ensure solutions are properly implemented. • Engineer and shepherd solutions to scale our Core Recordkeeping functional area. • Empower and guide peers through mentorship.

The group is currently divided into two teams. The addition of this person would create 3 teams. • Migrating accounting service to postgres database (and mysql) o Don't need a DBA level. Can write a query and perform it. o More interested in a swiss army knife. o More skilled at java, sping boot, microservices layer. • Will scale out process of dividends, about 20+ activities that fall under core record keeping
