Role:Kafka Expert

Location:100%REMOTE Duration:12 Months

Day to Day Responsibilities: •Support the infrastructure of the Kafka instance – they haven’t had any large issues yet, but looking for some who is able to have a more proactive approach to platform support •Identify opportunities to improve the platform – adding in automation, integrating with other services across Optum, etc. •Identify and implement support/monitoring tools like Splunk or Elastic

• Consult with inquiring teams on how to leverage Kafka within their pipelines
• Architect, Build and Support existing and new Kafka clusters via IaC
• Partner with Splunk teams to route traffic through Kafka by utilizing open-source agents and collectors deployed via Chef
• Remediate any health issues within Kafka
• Automate (where possible) any operational processes on the team
• Create new and/or update monitoring dashboards and alerts as needed
• Manage a continuous improvement / continuous development (CI/CD) pipeline
• Perform PoCs on new components to expand/enhance teams Kafka offerings

Must Haves: •Kafka infrastructure – should be a SME. The content of the experience matters more than number of years, •DevOps background – should have a good handle on DevOps best practices, oCICD experience – they use Jenkins, open to similar tools, oAnsible, Chef – should at least have an understanding of these tools or similar
