About the role
Role:Mainframe Programmer
Location:Remote Duration:12+ month contract
Must haves: COBOL JCL
Responsibilities
Support existing ETL batch jobs by investigating production issues and enhance ETL code as needed. Support the Data Warehouse support team with weekly on-call rotation. Develop high quality scalable & maintainable code abiding by MGIC’s coding standards and best practices. Review code with other developers to share project and technical knowledge. Collaborate with developers, analysts, and QA testers to plan and execute in a high-performing Agile environment. Participate in technical planning, determine tasks associated with project assignments, estimates, and dependencies. Work with Solutions Architecture team to design solutions that supports Data Warehouse business requirements. Update and modernize MGIC code to the latest supported versions to ensure security, stability, and support. Effectively communicate project status to teammates and leadership team.
Experience: At least five years of experience working with Mainframe COBOL, Easytrieve, DB2, Oracle, and JCL. Experience with Agile methodology using Scrum or Kanban. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Open for continuous improvements. Experience with Service Now ticketing, a plus. Experience with JIRA, a plus.
