About the role
Position: Microstrategy Developer Location: Remote (Supporting team in Orlando, FL) Duration: 6+ month contract potential to hire Description: Project Details: Rapid Visualization Development 2 Key Projects they are working on – both centered around automation and increasing self-service at the restaurants and increasing overall usage as a whole Looking to track KPI’s associated with this effort – goal is to increase self-service usage by certain percentage Taking current manual processes – if the supply chain team for example – they are taking inventory from massage excel spread sheets – goal is to automate this and have the appropriate data so that the team isn’t manually updating They need the dashboards and reporting to ensure that they can get more predictive to help predict Other initiatives aside from this – automation an FY KPI Report, need to be managed in an iterative kanban fashion Other businesses they support – a lot supported around automation – this is on the ETL side Day to Day Responsibilities/typical day look like: Needs administrative support – to fig into performance to be able to monitor and help with the day to day – to understand the inner workings of microstrategy They have a lot of requests that require rapid visualization Python on the other side- familiarity here would be helpful for scripting for admin tasks – there are opportunities on the BI side Someone who has a broad level of experience within data and strategy as they are looking into going towards the cloud – wants to hear about different options of strategy and coming into the cloud Needs them to be a jack of all trades with microstrategy Needs them to be comfortable with creating dossiers. Tool – self-service analytics – need to be able to put together a good visual quickly Will be rapid organization and turnaround Need them to map their own data sets and create their own metrics and be comfortable with the full development life cycle On the visual side, team has weekly meetings for prioritization and efforts so they can understand what is going on from management etc., in these meetings they will work with whichever resources they have available If they have admin skills – with securities whatever is needed for keeping the lights on Needs to be comfortable writing basic queries – intermediate 5+ years Microstrategy versions 2021 upgraded 10 Microstrategy in the cloud coming next year so would want flexibility to learn in that space. Tracking data in Azure DevOps Basics of Agile Owning both support, administration, development, and implementation Capable of learning JAMS (as they have an Admin that can help with training). Or worked with a similar scheduling application. On-call every 4 weeks and supporting individually for a full week. In general after business hours and on the weekends. Would start a month in. Day to Day Responsibilities/typical day look like: Weekly meetings for prioritization of efforts to understand what is going on with Management and change in expectations of targets. Team starts between 8-9am est (core is 9-4) Handling incoming requests and building dashboards/visualizations with Microstrategy Ability to help out on the ETL side at times *Potential on-call rotation on weekends once a month after a few months What are the top 3 MUST HAVE technologies or Required experience for the position? 5+ years with Microstrategy (dashboarding/visualizations); they are on v. 10 General ETL dev skills (Informatica, JAMS, etc.) Strong overall database analysis skills (they use Oracle PL/SQL) Strong SQL skills to dig into complex query structure Needs to be a self-starter and able to pick up tasks quickly NICE TO HAVES (OR WHAT GETS THE WIN)? Python Other Dashboarding exp. (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) Admin experience with Microstrategy (User security background to debug and dig into performance, restart services, adding rules, create access/permissions aka understand inter-workings of Microstrategy)
