Mid- Big Data Engineer

Job Description : ROLE: Big Data Engineer LOCATION: Rockville MD, remote OVERVIEW: Apex Systems has an immediate need for Data Engineer to be part of a market surveillance team, ready for a large financial project roll out. The position is a long term contract-to-hire basis, with a competitive hourly compensation. Successful candidates must have strong big data engineering skills with Spark on any cloud platform inlcuding Python, Scala, and Java. Daily Responsibilities: - Collaborate with Data Analysts and Business Analysts to understand requirements - Create algorithms + ML models based on business requirments to detect anomalies - Help Data Scientists to optimize preexisting models Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least seven (7) years of related experience, or equivalent training and/or work experience; Master’s degree and past Financial Services industry experience preferred. - Past experience with developing enterprise quality solutions in an iterative or Agile environment. - Experience with one or more programming languages like Scala, Python, and/or Java - Clear, effective communication with strong interpersonal skills - Ability to push the frontier of technology and independently pursue better alternatives - Ability to maintain focus and develop proficiency in new skills rapidly. - Ability to utilize problem solving skills in a fast paced environment. - Exposure to AWS, Azure or Google Cloud is preferred. - Understanding of ML/AI technologies is preferred.
