About the role
Role: Network Design Engineer Location: Richmond, VA or Columbia, SC (Hybrid Model (1 week onsite, 1 week remote) Duration: Long Term Contract Technical Qualifications: Senior level resource with a strong background in Cisco route/switch design, configuration, and management. Other tech in this background is MPLS, ACI, ISE, SD-WAN, and WiFI - all components of Dominion's environment. Needs to come from a large enterprise environment (at least 5,000 endpoints), and needs to understand how network architecture operates in enterprise environment • 5 years of networking design experience • Strong engineering and operational skills in Enterprise routing and switching environments • Deep understanding of network routing protocols: EIGRP, BGP, OSPF Job Summary: Network Design Engineer/Architect in the Cloud Data Center Networking group under Doug. Group is responsible for design engineering for all network projects, deciding network gear for purchases, and designing the overall network architecture - provides the vision and design. Upcoming projects in this group are large network refreshes, implementing Cisco ACI in Richmond data centers, and a large SD-WAN project. • Configure and install network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS). • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations. • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability. • Monitor network resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning. • Provide Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues. • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure. • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
