About the role
Role: Network Engineer Duration: Full time Location: 5 days onsite in Claremont, CA Education/Training: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience or five (5) years of experience with the Essential Functions listed above. Experience: Experience providing excellent customer service. Three (3) or more years of experience supporting and maintaining network systems in a professional work environment. Experience with networking technologies including but not limited to: routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless. Experience with current routing protocols, like but not limited to OSPF or BGP. Experience troubleshooting networking issues in a multi-vendor, multi-protocol network. Experience collaborating with Value-Added Resellers (VARs) to implement technical solutions. System administration skills across a variety of Operating Systems. Certifications/Licenses: One or more certification(s) related to networking including but not limited to Net+, CCENT, CCNA, and/or other manufacturer equivalent such as JNCIA. Competencies: Knowledge of network architecture and design. Ability to manage projects and tasks efficiently. Ability to follow operational processes and standards. Strong collaboration and communication skills to effectively work with internal and external partners, like VARs. Responsibilities: The following are the fundamental duties and responsibilities of this position which the incumbent must be able to perform to fulfill the purpose and requirements of this position. Capture and document functional requirements and non-functional expectations. Work with customers and peers to help build and maintain networking infrastructure and services to facilitate business, educational, and research needs. Work with vendors and VARs on network designs, including the implementation of virtual server plans, evaluation of new technologies, and problem resolution. Implement network designs, including those in multi-organizational architecture, under supervision. Collaborate with VARs to assist in the implementation of virtual server plans, ensuring they align with organizational needs and network infrastructure standards. Participate in the day-to-day management of network routing, switching, and network security. Configure and install network equipment as part of a team. Research and remain aware of new technologies and trends within the field of networking. Assist with information gathering and discovery/confirmation diagnostics during network outages. Implement or recommend corrective actions for network problems impacting wired and/or wireless networks. Support other functions, including but not limited to network design, troubleshooting, and new technology research. Ability to work flexible hours to respond to on-call requests in support of service availability.
