About the role
Role: Sr Network Engineer
Duration: Long Term Contract Location: Hybrid position, 1 week `onsite & 1 week remote, in downtown Richmond, VA Visa: W2 role
Job Description: Looking for a Senior level Network Engineer with heavy Cisco Route/Switch, all Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, EGP, EIGRP) & exposure to SD-WAN.
Qualifications
• Performs maintenance and changes on network routers, switches, and wireless equipment, as required • Performs Implementation/Configuration of new network routers, switches, and wireless devices, as required • Assists with troubleshooting internetwork connectivity and wireless issues. • Utilizes change management and ticketing systems, documents status updates and problem resolutions. • Complete all assignments and project work in a timely manner with an acceptable level of quality • Follows documented processes, procedures, and policies • Performs customer service duties and responds to customer and project requests as defined by management • This position requires the participation in an on-call support rotation with the other team members • Other related duties assigned as needed
Required Job Qualifications: • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience administering Routers and Switches • Must have experience with Cisco router and switches. Juniper is a plus • Must have networking TCP/IP routing experience • Understanding of network protocols –EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, QOS, STP, DHCP, SNMP, TCP, UDP • Must have experience with network break/fix of layer 2 and 3 environments • Must be motivated and able to work effectively under average supervision in a fast-paced environment • Must be team-oriented, placing priority on quality and the successful completion of team goals • Good analytical and problem-solving skills • Network related industry certifications a plus • Comprehends current cyber security best practices • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science is a plus, but not required
Preferred Job Qualifications: • Cisco Wireless experience • Cisco Nexus platform experience • Cisco SDWAN • Experience working in an environment subject to regulatory compliance • Experience with supporting an enterprise network at a Utility company • Strong understanding of packet capture analysis • Familiar with ServiceNow Ticketing system to track issues and updates • Brocade and Juniper experience • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
