About the role
Role: Network Engineers with Leidos supporting DISA-DES. Duration: This would be a long term contract (12+ months)
Top Requirements:
- USC
- One (1) of the following security clearances: Secret, Top Secret, or Interim Secret
- 8+ years’ experience
- Network design/architecture experience
- Migration experience
Program Mission: The DES program supports a highly demanding mission and requires support from top technical and management talent to migrate common IT services for over twenty DoD agencies under a common platform.
Job Description: Apex Systems is currently seeking a Network Engineer for a large Government Integrator at Ft. Meade, MD. The Network Engineer will support the discovery, analysis and design required to migrate IT services from twenty DOD agencies into the DODNet.
Location: Ft. Meade, MD Clearance Type: Secret Clearance (Interim secret and Top Secret are acceptable) Shift: Monday – Friday, Core Business Hours
What you'll do
• Plan and design wide area connectivity inclusive of underlay, overlay, and COI transport design to secure network solutions • Perform legacy environment discovery to develop a design pattern associated with implementation and transition plans. • Integrate capacity, planning and scaling of network security stack environments into design of solutions. • Investigate, and identify network optimization strategies across IPv4 and IPv6 networks. • Preparing solution packages documenting recommended technical solutions, estimated costs and benefits. • Identify, assess, and present options for meeting the functional and technical requirements, which might include hardware and software. • Produce architectural artifacts to include system design diagrams, recommendation justifications, and technical specifications.
Required Qualifications:
• Active Secret Clearance required • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience; additional years of directly applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. • Must have an active DoD IAT Level II (Security+ ) certification or equivalent prior to start. • Experience with security products such as vulnerability scanning and network assessment tools. • Experience with Windows, UNIX, Linux, Solaris, and/or RedHat Servers. • Conduct testing of network design, to include writing test plans/procedures and analyzing and documenting results. • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. • Troubleshooting; Network layer 2 and layer 3 troubleshooting. • (Cisco) installation and configuration
Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in the design and consolidation of network and security environments across geographically dispersed sites • Expert Knowledge of DoD security requirements for network environments • Proficiency in at least one of the following tools: PaloAlto Panorama, SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, or Junos Space.
