Payments Business Analyst

Title: Payments Business Analyst

Location: remote working EST

Term: 6+ months

MUST be a SME in SWIFT, ISO, FED WIRE, ACH. We have both technical and functional roles, so send me BOTH types of candidates! Please ONLY send candidates in the banking industry. I am NOT looking for financial services candidates, they MUST have this experience within a bank.

Context:

PMO: manage program for enterprise payments payments hub theyre replacing w/ Dovetail from Fiserv, Payplus, upgrade to ACH, doing some ISO compliance work

Doesnt manage IT but running projects run those three projects

EPP implementation going to complete this year, good on ACH upgrade, lacking ISO 2022 standards knowledge/strategy

Starting to plan their project 2 years behind, looking at resources to move project forward

IT Team might be bringing on Architect/Systems Analyst

Project:

ISO migration lots of banks have done this previously in last few years

Business/Ops Business Analyst skill set less systems focused

ISO is a standards organization 20022 directive is that they need to take Swift in ISO format correctly tag based changes how info is delivered through SWIFT ecosystem not just format, but way that data is used to your advantage store that data within your infrastructure

This year SWIFT inbound

Next year SWIFT outbound, done by 11/2023

Specific standard 20022 formatting requirement is what theyre looking at

More of a thought leader how orgs have gone through this, documented requirements, some technical requirements

What operations will need to do, whats impact for OFAC and Fraud applications, channels will have to send in a compatible format

Specific banks whove done this: Citi, Wells Fargo, European banks (UK based)

10 years in financial services, banking

5-7 focused in payments

Business analysis practice is payments XP is slim right now, looking to groom them into a FTE

Long term goal is to move closer to Agile, right now its Waterfall

Manager is looking end to end flow how XML messages flow and how itll impact OFAC AML bridger system

Why is this role exciting?

Payments platforms are expanding looking to monetize the way we use the data coming in via ISO. Not the biggest payments provider in the US, but theyre looking to grow their business and payments is a major priority. Bank at senior level is pushing payments improvements FedNow, Real-time Payments

Migration (all the big banks have done this)

They are starting to plan the project - different resources to move the project forward

ISO 20022 directives that you need to take swift in ISO compatible

New messages are MX

It is about the way the messages are routed through

Focus on Inbound in 2022,

Everything needs to be compatible by Nov. 2023

Formatting Mandate

Thought leader on how organizations have gone through

Documentation of requirements (business/ ops / impact to fraud, ofac applications, channels, etc.)

Flow how things will affect the overall program.

Position Description:

Serves as the liaison between the customer community and the software development team via clearly documented functional, system and process requirements. Works with clients to obtain requirements through interviews, document analysis, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, workflow analysis and use cases. Evaluates the information from those multiple sources to develop an understanding of the clients business requests and needs and translates them into application and operational requirements. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to lead a project or group. 5 - 10 years of experience preferred.

Core Requirements:

• Must have 8 - 10 years of experience

• Experience in Bank Payments

• Payment Platforms: SWIFT, FEDWIRE, ACH

• Payment Vendors: FISERV, ACI, FINASTRA

• Experience in ISO 20022

• No specific software requirements- but business analysis expertise required
