PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER Cox Automotive, a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to join our F&I Solutions (DealerTrack) team. As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer you will be responsible for establishing and driving practices to deliver secure, reliable and performant solutions used by our lenders, dealers and partners. The Principal SRE is responsible for identifying, implementing and assisting our teams with multiple initiatives including resiliency, security, performance, scalability, observability, efficiency and major incident response. Technology We Use: Docker, AWS, Python, Django, React, Terraform and more… Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Provides technical expertise while defining and promoting best practices and guidelines to ensure continuous improvement in resilience, security, quality, scalability and performance within the engineering teams. Actively participates within our Scrum teams to help design, develop, test and deploy solutions. Participates in continuous improvement activities by actively researching, recommending and implementing learnings from post-mortems, team members, partners, and industry resources. Drives improvements in observability and our ability to make data-driven decisions utilizing telemetry at our disposal, including anomaly detection and machine learning. Accelerates MTTI/MTTR by various means (automation, process improvements, documentation, GameDays, etc.) Increases engineering efficiency through automation (reduce toil) Anticipates future technology needs based on business requirements and participates in the evaluation, selection and rollout of new technologies and tools. Mentors and grows less experienced engineers Qualifications: Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent work experience 10+ years relevant experience in software development, information systems, or equivalent technical environment, including previous experience in a global application delivery/SaaS environment, handling highly complex issues. Expert in design, development, implementation and operation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems and components, client-facing web applications, and major Internet applications and systems. 3+ years of AWS experience, including Well Architected Framework Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or other container technologies Experience with ITSM, Monitoring and Event Management tools (ServiceNow, NewRelic, Datadog, Splunk, PagerDuty) Extensive experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code Strong understanding of modern API and service design Knowledge of security concerns and best practices Strong understanding of database, storage and networking fundamentals Experience in Continuous Integration/Delivery toolkits such as Code Build/Deploy, Jenkins/Puppet. Passionate about continuous improvement related to reliability, performance, security and best practices. Skilled at mentoring others on SRE practices to ensure new software is built with reliability in mind Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders and teams Strong reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills Must be curious, opinionated and focused on relentless improvement
