Role: SQL DBA Location: 100% Remote 8AM – 5PM CST + some releases will have on call hours Pay Rate: $55/hr on W2 T-SQL – must have SQL Powershell Primary Job Accountabilities/ Responsibilities • (Indicate % of time devoted to each accountability. % should total 100%.) If the responsibility spans the Assurant enterprise, please indicate so. • 60% - Primary role is to ensure the global stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the systems and infrastructure that support core organizational functions, as well as to conduct/lead research on new and emerging technologies for practical application to business problems and strategic initiatives. • 20% - Experienced knowledge of job role demonstrating advanced application of technical skills and interpersonal competencies • 20% - Provides direct global technical leadership and support for all requirements in developing strategy, planning, coordination, scripting, and implementation of releases, upgrades, or changes to our distributed computing environment. Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Qualifications Required - Experience, Skills, and Knowledge • Basic qualifications must be (1) non-comparative (not based on a comparison of one individual with another); (2) objective (not based on the employer’s subjective judgment); and (3) relevant to performance of the particular position and consistent with the employer’s business-related goals. • For example, If you are hiring an accountant, you might want someone with an accounting degree and CPA license, and who was, in the opinion of management, a “good communicator.” • The accounting degree and CPA license would be “basic qualifications” because they are non-comparative, objective, and relevant to job performance. • Even though you might consider the “good communicator” part to be a minimum requirement for the position, it would not be a “basic qualification” in the OFCCP sense because determining whether someone is a “good communicator” requires a subjective judgment on your part. You will work closely with our global teams in related technologies and platforms to support SQL Server infrastructure. The successful candidate must have: • Provides direct technical support for all requirements in the planning, coordination, scripting, and implementation of upgrades or changes to our Microsoft SQL Server estate • Performs capacity planning, performance monitoring, tuning, and prediction. • Provides high-level support for SQL Server systems, ensuring proper change management procedures and methodologies are followed. • Some after-hours work will be required • Position will require participation in a daytime, on-call rotation to assist with incident handling for the purpose of resolving SQL related infrastructure issues • Provides technical assistance/guidance to less experienced administrators • Solid work ethic • Detail oriented • Strong troubleshooting / analytical skills • Advanced communication skills both orally and written • Service Oriented Individual • Ability to build strong working relationships • Can work independently • Ability to mentor and develop others • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience. Base education is a CIS or MIS degree with at least 5 years of technical experience in design, deployment, and support of complex RDBMS technologies. • Environment/Physical Demands: This position requires incumbents to regularly sit at a desk and operate standard office equipment such as a computer and phone. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear. Required to use hands navigate computer controls. Also, potential to have a sliding shift start/stop times to ensure we have global coverage 24/7. This will be a WFH position that will require the ability to potentially be in the office 1 day a week. • 5 or more years of hands-on experience installing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server (versions 2008 – 2019) • 3 or more years of hands-on experience managing IaaS and PaaS in Microsoft Azure • In-depth knowledge of SQL Server internals (locking, consistency, recovery paths, replication) • Proficient in T-SQL or closely related declarative language • Basic understanding of dependent or closely related technologies to SQL Server (OS, server, storage, network) • Expert technical diagnostic and research skills, expert troubleshooting, ability to troubleshoot issues holistically • Ability to identify and escalate issues to management when appropriate to meet SLA requirements. • Requires ability to correctly assess risks of various alternatives and take appropriate actions to restore services in the event of system outages. • Ability to explain the technical implications of various alternative solutions to management Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge • List additional qualifications that may be considered but are not a requirement for a candidate to perform the essential functions of the job • Education (For example: If minimum requirement is AA the preferred could be a BA/BS) • Knowledge and Skills (Additional relevant skillsets that would enable an indivdual to perform at a higher level) Previous Experience • ( For example - Customer Care:1 yearexperince in a customer service function is the minimum requirement however 3+ years is the preferred. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or related field • 8 years of experience engineering and administering RDBMS • Familiarity with at least one compiled language (preferably C#) • Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud and related technologies • Experience with Microsoft technologies and other tech spaces related to SQL Server • Ability to learn and adapt to changing technological landscapes • Experience using ServiceNow ITIL managed processes -- Thanks & Regards, K.
