Required Skills: We are looking for a Senior SQL Database Administrator with Azure, reporting, tuning and performance experience. Apex Systems is the Engagement Partner for the State of Arizona, Department of Child Safety supporting a multi-year Statement of Work as they migrate their data warehouse and look for a Sr. SQL DBA to hit the ground running and think "big picture". This person will be responsible for installation, configuration, patches, security, back-up, and recovery and performance tuning and typically has 11+ years’ experience. Experience in Power BI, Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Azure GCC (Cloud), is a top priority.... Specifically SQL IaaS in Azure GCC with High Availability Clusters is really needed an understanding with.

Additional Skills: Power BI experience for reporting (visualizations).

Job Description:

The Cloud Data Engineer is different from the role of a database administrator. A Cloud Data Engineer’s scope of work goes well beyond looking after a database and the server where it’s hosted. Cloud Data Engineers must also get, ingest, transform, validate, and clean up data to meet business requirements. This process is called data wrangling. As a Cloud Data Engineer, you will be working in complex data warehouse environments. Will maintain one data marts in ADCS as well as work on Business Intelligence reporting solutions. Our team is responsible for ensuring data that is critical for analytical reports and metrics and are viewed at the highest levels in the organization. A Cloud Data Engineer should have deep expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions, and to build data sets that answer those questions. You should be expert at designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the data warehouse and into end-user facing applications. You should be able to work with business customers in a fast paced environment understanding the business requirements and implementing reporting solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Building tools and data pipelines, can partner with stakeholders to answer key business questions. You will also have the opportunity to display your skills in the following areas: o Owning the design, operations and improvements for the organization’s Datawarehouse infrastructure. o Engineering solutions to aggregate and automate data flows from varying sources. o Collaborate with Engineers and Specialists in the organization to construct complex data sources for algorithms and machine learning models. o Explore and learn the latest Cloud technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency. o Build, analyze and present actionable data to drive business and product management decisions. o Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers. o Proactively solves unique & complex problems o Provides technical expertise in developing frameworks for enterprise databases o Researches and suggests new technologies to improve database performance o Provides support for database development, enhancement and migrations o Maintains documentations for system for reference purposes o Develops effective develop solutions to ensure system performance and productivity o Cloud Data Engineer and develops new integrations as required o Designs databases, repositories, operational data stores, data warehouses and data marts o Other duties as assigned

Knowledge:

• Thorough working knowledge of multiple programming languages, multiple database management systems, multiple development platforms, and systems integration. • Considerable working knowledge of physical data models, technical architecture, system interfaces, etc. • Considerable working knowledge of normalized and dimensional modeling techniques • Considerable working knowledge of various Industry standards for data capture, transmission, consumption and reporting • Knowledge of software engineering best practices across development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations • Knowledge of Advanced Statistics and implementing ML models. • Experience using advanced SQL queries and optimizing them for large-scale, complex datasets. • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering

• Demonstrated strength in ETL development, and data warehousing. • The Cloud Data Engineer focuses on data-related tasks in ADCS Cloud Platforms. Primary responsibilities include using services and tools to ingest, egress, and transform data from multiple sources. Cloud Data Engineer collaborate with business stakeholders to identify and meet data requirements. They design and implement solutions. They also manage, monitor, and ensure the security and privacy of data to satisfy business needs.
