Role: Sr. DBA/ARCHITECT

Contract Length: 12-24 month with possibility of extension

Location: Hybrid – 3 days/week – in Wilmington, DE

Overview of project:

Our client is seeking a Senior Database Analyst/Architect who has a deep experience with Oracle databases, data warehouses, retrieving and manipulating the housed data using ETL processing and complex SQL. The candidate should be able to quickly come up to speed on a complex database model, a database star schema architecture, and immediately contribute to development and/or support of Cognos reporting, complex SQL needs, business-requested reporting, extracts, loads, stored procedures, interfaces, ETL work, and an upcoming effort to upgrade our Oracle platform from Windows to Linux.

Financial Services background or supporting a financial-based COTS product is a nice added skillset for this role

Job Profile Summary

 Create, maintain, and tune complex PL/SQL queries and stored procedures

 Create and maintain existing SQL based custom reports

 Maintain complex data models

 Create and maintain interfaces between our on premise Oracle environment and MS SQL Server

on the Azure based platform

 Create, maintain, and tune quality SQL Server reporting deliverables using PowerBI and SSRS

 Create, maintain, and tune interfaces with SSIS based interfaces and stored procedures

 Build and maintain Data Marts and associated ETL processes

Duties and Responsibilities The candidate should be able to quickly come up to speed on a complex database model, a database star schema architecture, and immediately contribute to development and/or support of Cognos reporting, complex SQL needs, business-requested reporting, extracts, loads, stored procedures, interfaces, ETL work, and an upcoming effort to upgrade our Oracle platform from Windows to Linux. This individual will be working with one of our clients who is in the process of modernizing their platform. The current database platform will remain and be heavily used. The candidate will primarily support our current platform with the intent to eventually move to expand support to our Azure based environment, where MS SQL Server is the current database platform. The candidate should also have experience with PowerBI, SSRS (SQL Server Report Services), and SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services). Working in a very dynamic and fast-moving environment, the candidate will need to leverage strong problem-solving and analytical skills, organizational abilities, and attention to detail. The candidate will work with the client and team members to gather and validate requirements, validate designs, and develop database application solutions.

Specific responsibilities may include:

 Create, maintain, and tune complex PL/SQL queries and stored procedures

 Create and maintain existing SQL based custom reports

 Maintain complex data models

 Create and maintain interfaces between on-premise Oracle environment and MS SQL Server on

the Azure based platform

 Review and interpret ongoing business reports and interface requirements

 Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Analyze existing data structures and queries and

develop/update reports, queries, data loads, and interfaces.

 Accurately develop database queries, reports, data loads/extracts in a logical manner from

scratch.

 Create and maintain quality reporting deliverables using Microsoft PowerBI

 Create and maintain quality reporting deliverables using Microsoft SSRS

 Create new and maintain/tune existing T-SQL queries and procedures

 Create and maintain existing T-SQL based custom reports

 Create and maintain interfaces leveraging Microsoft SSIS

 Analyze existing T-SQL queries for performance improvements

 Review and interpret ongoing business report and interface requirementsRequired Skills and Experience

 7 years of experience as a Senior Database Analyst/Architect

 BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject

 A strong SQL developer who can quickly come up to speed on an existing and complex SQL

Server database underlying a leading financial based COTS product

 Extensive experience in all aspects of Oracle PL/SQL programming and query manipulation.

 Some experience working with a SQL Server database, MS Server Power BI, SSRS, and SSIS

 Extensive experience working with large sets of data and resolving data-oriented issues.

 Extensive experience in tuning queries for optimal performance

 Ability to work directly with business users to translate business reporting

requests/requirements into a backend database design that clearly identifies database object

impacts

Preferred Skills and Experience

 Experience with MS-SQL Server
