About the role
DevOps Engineer REMOTE 6-12Months Business Unit: Enterprise Technologies This Shared Services Team handles all back-office functions for this organization (support legal, compliance, all things needed for the company to keep running, etc.) The customers for these DevOps Engineers are actually the Developers Manager refers to this as his “Tiger Team” to help support developers and automate processes Help migrate and automate tasks and applications that would take the developers much more time Tech Stack: Developer mindset vs. Operations in terms of DevOps Java and Spring Boot a must have Python and/or YAML expected API creation and consumption might be needed based on the project Kafka, MQ and Mulesoft pluses Cloud: AWS (anything comparable fine) Individuals will be able to bring ideas and best practices to the table to automated testing (tool selection – Cucumber vs. Karate vs. Selenium etc.) You are expected to have at least 7 years of hands-on developer experience, including: Languages - Java, Spring Boot, YAML, Python Platforms - OpenShift, Websphere (nice to have) Databases - SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 (nice to have) Security- Azure AD, Azure OAuth DevSecOps - Github/Github Actions, Github CoPilot, Snyk, Sonar Cloud Description: As a Sr DevOps Engineer, you will be considered a technical expert in applying DevSecOps automation best practices and assist in driving the engineering excellence and technology health initiatives across Enterprise Corporate Technology (ECT) engineering teams. This includes the understanding and adoption of standard developer tooling and pipeline solutions that help drive the developer productivity (e.g. our Integrated Developer Platform as an example), as well as the implementation of the security and infrastructure tech health priority initiatives. You will be working on a shared services DevSecOps team that is an internal engineering team focused on creating efficiencies for business facing engineering delivery teams. This DevSecOps team is made up of 3 engineers and their task is three-fold: 1) Ensure effective adoption of DevSecOps developer platform tooling that enterprise engineering productivity team is building, 2) Assist ECT engineering teams with getting the broad infrastructure and security (TechHealth focused) work done (things such as Bitbucket/Bamboo migration to GitHub, etc. that are technology focused rather than business areas specific), and 3) Create transparency and proactive approach to managing the never-ending Infrastructure and Security modernization efforts that impact ECT teams. Lastly, be the voice of ECT engineering teams in the upfront part of the planning process for Infrastructure, Security and the enterprise level Developer Productivity tooling changes. Designing Solutions Apply technical knowledge to detect patters that can be automated in an effort to drive productivity across developer community Leverage your past developer experience to relate to current developers, understand their flow, detect impediments and design solutions to address them Implementing Solutions Sound hands-on experience in developing applications in Java Member of team that can work independently, as well as collaboratively with team, in developing core software for the product that delivers outcomes. Consistent and dependable in delivering core software that delivers outcomes and meets/exceeds the teams expectations for stability, scalability, resilience, etc. Learning and Applying New Techniques Shares new ideas and techniques with team; Encourages engineers to invest in learning as a part of their job Collaborating within the Team Self-driven and able to work with minimal level of managerial oversight and guidance Defining Engineering Standards and Patterns Contribute to develop engineering practices , templates and frameworks in collaboration with the team. DevSecOps Understands and is able to apply standard DORA metrics to measure progress Continuously assessing technology to build more stable, scalable, and resilient software Promote and expand on the use of the CI/CD pipeline to improve the deployment and build process Coaching Engineers Serves as a DevSecOps mentor for application engineers who are his/her primary customer
