Sr. Python/ Devops Engineer

Position: Sr. Python / DevOps Engineer Location: Remote (big plus if hybrid onsite in Boston, MA; McLean, VA, Richmond, VA, or Plano, TX) Duration: 6+ months; Potential for extension Required Skills : Python Knowledge of Perl DevOps experience AWS concepts Understanding and experience working in a Windows environment Position Description: Our leading U.S financial services client is looking to bring on a Sr. Python / DevOps Engineer to aid in their legacy product migration. In this role you will be responsible for modernizing their Windows COTS platform in addition to evaluating the legacy monolithic architecture, breaking out rules engine, and provided customized data structures as the team moves to a microservices model.

You embrace DevOps principles, including continuous delivery and ongoing support of production applications. It would be awesome if you have a robust portfolio on GitHub and/or open-source contributions you are proud to share. Required Skills: At least 5 years of experience delivering applications from architectural design to production implementation. At least 3 years of hands-on experience in deploying scalable, distributed systems or multi-node database paradigms via Docker/Kubernetes. At least 3 years of experience with cloud software design, containerized micro-services & distributed caching with Spring Boot and AWS (highly preferred). Sr. Level Python coding and concept knowledge. Experience in End-to-End Development – You build it, you own it mentality and practices (Design, Develop, Test, and Deploy). Experience in Unit Testing your own applications and code to deployments. Working knowledge of Window COTS products & applications. Experience in Agile Software Development. Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills. Passion for software development, the latest trends, and innovation. Desired Skills (not required but candidate will have exposure to these skills in this role): Hands on experience with Perl. Application Modernization experience with COTS applications. Prior experience working in financial services industry. Recent exp working in an AWS environment (with tools and services such as: EMR, Lambda, EC2, Kinesis, S3, ElastiCache/Redis, FSx).
