Sybase DBA, 100% Remote

Job Title: Sybase / Oracle DBA Duration: 8+ Months Location: 100% Remote, Report To : Required Skills : MUST MUST MUST have extensive Sybase experience and primarily work with Sybase as their main database Strong knowledge of Sybase ASE, Sybase Replication Server and Sybase IQ administration Oracle experience is a must has well Basic Qualifications : Additional Skills : Job Description : JOB DESCRIPTION: The Sybase/Oracle DBA will be part of the database production support team in providing guidance and troubleshooting complex technical issues. The DBA is expected to provide innovative IT solutions and be a trusted technical services advisor to provide operation and maintenance of systems across multiple platforms, sustained resiliency and high availability solutions. Minimum 5+ years of work experience as a Sybase Database Administrator Strong knowledge of Sybase ASE, Sybase Replication Server and Sybase IQ administration Mid-level knowledge of Oracle database administration is a plus / highly desired Experience in building and upgrading ASEs and Replication Servers are required Working knowledge of clustering (VCS) for Sybase ASE and IQ (simplex and multiplex) etc. Solid skills in database performance and tuning procedures Strong Database Management skills, including backup and recovery procedures Solid skills in productivity factors and ability to understand impact of problem on overall database performance Knowledge of fault detection and resolution processes Strong skills in maintenance tools and procedures Solid skills with one or more programming language and design technique Shell/Perl/PowerShell scripting skills is a plus Ability to interface with users at all levels of the organization and good end-user support skills Must be well-organized, responsible, work effectively, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and able to multitask in a fast paced environment Thanks & Regards Syam B, 630-923-6952 syam@thoughtwavesoft.com
