In this role the engineer works closely with mainframe application teams to maintain and enhance mainframe tools and platforms. The role is responsible for managing and executing software releases and maintaining the release process; troubleshooting issues in response to application team incidents, and working with external vendors and partners to provide software upgrades, network connectivity, and data exchange. Responsibilities (indicate 5-10 key responsibilities/tasks that effectively describe the position; List from most important to least important):  Manage and update software tools that support Mainframe teams  Coordinate and track SSL certificates, and install any certs as necessary  Provide support for Ivory Server for z/OS: coordinate with third party providers for upgrades, deployments into production, troubleshooting and support.  Support custom applications: OPDOC and JOBDOC, using, when necessary, the following tools:  CLIST  ISPF Dialog Manager  Cobol  Assembler (minimal)  Support and maintain release processes across all environments, including standalone testing environments.  Perform CICS new copies as needed.  Support Panvalet and restore members when requested  Check MQ queue levels and definitions when requested  Restore datasets when requested  Write/run SAS reports against SMF data for things like dataset updates, deletes, numbers of jobs, etc.  Assist in management and update of the mainframe documentation/manual library Mainframe Support Engineer We only have 1--help alleviate Rob's duties and take on extra duties Not only mainframe activities; expanding to involve software that helps support middleware (sitting on servers in NDC, AWS) supporting mainframe infrastructure 50/50: Mainframe and Standard Linux/Windows Engineering Support Ivory Software: mainframe components; middleware for TOEFL, GRE, CB. Linking MF to other apps Day In the life:  Managing non-prod testing environments  List of software to be tested that is moved into a testing environment (some standalone, some work with reference data). Source load listing and supporting parameters, ensure it is ready to run.  DB2 and IDMS databases  Modify via SQL or directly  Work w/ app and testing teams once ready to test  Software is moved to production by DXC Assembler, IDMS. SAAS-- experience in IDMS? Doesn't use SQL? Require programming experience as well as sys admin?: Will be taking some work over from a team member, so some understanding of Assembler is helpful. An understanding/familiarity of IDMS is needed, but programming requirements are not necessarily needed. Understanding, troubleshooting, etc. Modifying DB's: what kind of mods?: For testing purposes, reference data may need to be modified; ST works with the app group and in the build, may include update to reference data. Member containing SQL, updating fields, etc. Open to resumes for remote/out of state?: Work can be done remotely, so yes, we can consider. After COVID as well?: Yes How many years of experience?: 4-7 years Is Ivory Server a must or a nice to have?: Support from infrastructure and troubleshooting, so nice to have (MQ Series, Panvalet, etc.), familiarity at least. Nice to find someone who progresses with this; MF will be cutting over to Linux/etc., so the ability to transform to newer technologies. Installing/maintaining SSL certs? Web based items?: No, not at this time. But nice to know or have familiarity with. Some of the supporting software in the MF space is over the internet; using SSL for those apps that require cert. updates. We have cert. mgmt. software.
