Role: VMware Virtualization Engineer
Duration: Contract to Hire Location: 1331 E Wyoming Ave Philadelphia, PA (Tue, Wed, Thu on-site required) Visa: W2 role
Manager Notes • Current need is for VMware Virtualization as most important skill set however they will get involved with Windows administration as needed. • Additionally, candidates who have Azure background would be a major bonus as client is moving toward Azure – eventually this role likely will sit more in Azure Cloud vs. VMware – however they don’t plan to move entirely away from VMware anytime soon.
Systems Engineer (Virtualization): The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our VMware infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, performance, and security. The VMware Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development and implementation of virtualization solutions that meet the organization's technological needs. This role requires a strong understanding of virtualization technologies, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to system optimization and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
· Design, deploy, configure, and maintain VMware virtualization infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance. · Monitor and optimize VMware environments to guarantee efficient resource utilization and scalability. · Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VMware infrastructure and virtual machines, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum uptime. · Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate VMware solutions with existing systems and applications. · Implement and enforce security measures to safeguard VMware infrastructure and data. · Conduct regular performance assessments and capacity planning to anticipate and address future infrastructure needs. · Document and maintain comprehensive technical documentation related to VMware infrastructure and configurations. · Provide technical support and guidance to team members and end-users, addressing VMware-related queries and issues. · Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in virtualization technology to recommend innovative solutions and improvements.
Education / Qualifications: · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware Certified Professional) are preferred. · Proven experience working with VMware virtualization technologies in enterprise-level environments. · In-depth knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and vSAN, with the ability to configure and manage these components effectively. · Strong understanding of networking concepts, storage systems, and data center technologies. · Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and system integration. · Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex issues within virtualized environments. · Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and end-users. · Experience in implementing security best practices within VMware infrastructure. · Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Experience • 5 Years experience with Windows Server Management (Required) • 3 Years experience in healthcare environment (Preferred)
