VMware VRA / VRO Virtualization Engineer

Role: VMWare VRA/VRO Virtualization Engineers

Location: Jersey City NJ – remote to start Client: Bank of America (must work on Apex w2) Duration: 12+ months

MUST HAVE: VRA / VRO Vrealize VMware experience and Scripting

Virtualization engineering for cloud, hosting infrastructure – they are responsible for engineering and certification of hosting infrastructure. Use VSphere under the covers for private cloud. Team is responsible for ESXi VSAN VCenter and Vrealize suite of products from an architecture, engineering, and roadmap perspective. Team is also responsible for automation that touched the Vcenters for VM provisioning. Predominantly use VRA and VRO and centrally write workflows and orchestrations that are called by the Bank’s front-end portal. The front-end portal is what customers see, the service layer portal is what they go into and that will call one of his teams APIs to do the vm provisioning configuration. On infrastructure side, large push to increase and add another 8000 hyper-visors into environment and in order to do that, need to rely heavily on automation. Build process is mostly manual right now so in order to scale, looking a vshpere cloud foundation, so looking at ansible / python to do automation of lower infrastructure stack (hosting environment). Developing a CI/CD pipeline of capabilities to do automated provisioning of v-centers, vsx host, and v realize suite of products so they can turn this into infrastructure as code to be more nimble – ansible, Jenkins for pipeline and automate build out of infrastructure. In compliance with security standards, will have restrictive behind firewalls for management infrastructure and further segregation of duties within there. Big focus on overcoming technical challenges that secure management introduces to them. In additional, his team will do solution architecture and mariad of hosting needs that may arise from that. Not uncommon for them to be pulled into a storage application or database-related app to help put together virtual architecture in support of that or at least represent core vmware capabilities that they can support. Team – 8 people mostly US based but 1 in Singapore and 1 in Australia – spread out east coast to west coast No general purpose consultants right now – which is the need for doing automation work Partnering with VMware on lower stack automation effort and the intent would be to take over care and feeding and feature functions and that will fall to his team to pick up. 5 – VRA / VRO Python and Ansible Developers – scripting and feature enhancements 6 – VRA / VRO Python and Ansible Developers, Vsphere cloud foundation (VCF) hands-on experience Developers.
