Job Description:
We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a DevOps Engineer with a client in the Healthcare industry. If you have a passion for observability, automation, high availability, continuous improvement, and quality code, we want to talk to you.
You will work in a high energy, small, self-directed team, often pairing, to build and operate our private cloud and other platforms. You will code and test automated solutions to provide the best platform you can. You will maintain and operate platforms with high uptime requirements. We are well on our way but still growing, so opportunities to help set direction happen often. We work at every layer in the system so an eagerness to learn and teach is highly valued.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Automate relentlessly. Participate in the development and communication of DevOps principles and activities. Suggest, install, automate, and operate tools that enable our developers and systems. Monitor application performance and expose metrics for everyone. Designs and conducts platform/application tests, including functionality, availability, load/stress and performance. Troubleshoots development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms; identified as a subject matter expert. Participates within high availability and disaster recovery testing Create documentation required for smooth operation and sharing with other engineers.
Skills/experience
• Excellent understanding of WebLogic (installation, configuration, update.) • Excellent understanding of automation and how to apply it to remove barriers and increase reliability. Experience with Chef, Ansible, Jenkins a plus. • Curiousity with cloud technologies like OpenShift, Kubernetes, Vault, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Kafka, and others highly valued. • Understanding of infrastructure basics like storage, networking, operating systems, VMs. • Understanding of architectures such as Micro services, SOA, J2EE, Enterprise Service Bus a plus • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies. • Ability to communicate complex ideas in written and verbal forms. • Ability to work in an Agile environment; experience as scrum master a plus.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or work history in relation • 5+ years’ experience in software development • 5+ years’ operations experience
