Job Description: Quality Assurance Manager Plastics, Paint Shop & Assembly Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat Industry: Automotive Plastics / Painted & Assembled Components Position Overview The Quality Assurance Manager will establish and lead the quality management systems for injection moulding, paint shop, assembly, and decal operations , ensuring compliance with IATF 16949, BIS, SEDEX, DOT, and ECE R22.06 standards. This is a leadership role ideal for a plastics industry professional (CIPET background preferred) with strong process, system, and customer quality expertise. Key Responsibilities Quality Management System Implementation Develop and implement IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 quality systems aligned with BIS, SEDEX, DOT, and ECE compliance. Prepare control plans, PFMEA, SOPs, inspection standards, and documentation for moulding, painting, assembly, and decal processes. Lead internal, customer, and certification audits ensuring readiness at all times. Injection Moulding Quality Define and control moulding process parameters to ensure dimensional, visual, and mechanical conformance. Manage mould qualification, capability studies (Cp/Cpk) , and process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) . Oversee raw material traceability, batch segregation , and quality testing (impact, tensile, visual). Drive RCA and CAPA for defects such as flash, warpage, sink, or short shots. Paint Shop Quality Establish paint shop process control parameters booth environment, bake cycles, film thickness, gloss, and adhesion. Analyze and reduce defects like shade variation, dust, orange peel, or pinholes . Conduct paint adhesion, cross-hatch, and coating thickness tests per DOT/ECE requirements . Assembly & Decal Quality Develop inspection and validation systems for assembly and decal operations. Ensure alignment, adhesion, torque verification, and visual standards are met. Build Poka-Yoke mechanisms for assembly error prevention. Validate aesthetic and functional conformity of finished components. Regulatory & Certification Compliance Ensure compliance with BIS standards for plastic material and product certification. Drive adherence to SEDEX / SMETA ethical, environmental, and safety standards. Support DOT FMVSS 218 and ECE R22.06 homologation documentation and process validations. Coordinate third-party audits, corrective actions, and re-certification processes. Maintain compliance dashboards and ensure zero overdue CAPA closures Education: Preferred: Diploma / B.Tech / M.Tech from CIPET (Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology) or equivalent. Alternate: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Polymer / Production Engineering. Experience: 05 to 10 years in automotive plastics / injection moulding / painted components manufacturing , with minimum 5 years in a quality leadership role . Technical Expertise: Quality Systems: IATF 16949, ISO 9001, BIS, SEDEX, DOT, and ECE R22.06 Paint shop and surface finishing quality control Injection moulding process validation and defect analysis Assembly & decal quality systems Regulatory audit handling and documentation (BIS / SEDEX / DOT / ECE) Preferred Background: From Micro Plastics, Studds, Sandhar Amkin, Shree Amba Industries, Valeo, Tata Auto Components , or similar Tier-1 / Tier-2 manufacturers. Key Competencies Strong knowledge of plastics manufacturing and surface coating quality . Working familiarity with BIS, SEDEX, DOT, and ECE R22.06 certification systems . Excellent audit management and documentation skills. Hands-on leadership with a structured, process-driven approach. Effective cross-functional coordination and problem-solving ability.
