About the role
Roles and Responsibilities : Conduct testing and commissioning of electrical systems, including circuit breakers, relays, and protection relays. Ensure proper functioning of switchgear panels and control circuits during testing phases. Collaborate with site engineers to identify issues and resolve problems related to electrical erection and installation. Develop test plans, procedures, and reports for substation equipment such as transformers, VCBs (Vacuum Circuit Breakers), MCBs (Molded Case Circuit Breakers). Job Requirements : 3-12 years of experience in electrical commissioning or testing & maintenance in power industry. Strong knowledge of CRP (Control Relay Panel) software testing and commissioning. Experience with panel testing, relay testing, and protection relay settings. Ensure that all commissioning, testing and handover deliverables are met, as per the applicable contracts/agreements - taking over certicates, as built drawings, manufacturer manuals and instructions, punch lists, test procedures, risk assessment and method statements, permits, LOTO and end of commissioning reports. Determine resource (persons and equipment) levels to attain schedule milestones and ensure conformance with the commissioning plan. Develop strong working relationships with various stakeholders, including Eskom Grid Access Unit, the Dx and Tx System Operators, RETEC, GCAC, OEMs, EPC and O&M Contractors, external consultants, and lowners’ advisers. Good knowledge in reading control wiring diagrams for CRP/other panels and testing of electrical equipment knowledge in NIFPS and battery chargers relay protection, substation testing, circuit breaker
