About the role
Role Purpose The Engineering Draught /Draft Engineer Specialistis responsible for preparing, revising, and maintaining accurate engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documentation to support product development, manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer requirements. Working under the guidance of the Engineering Manager and senior engineers, the role converts engineering concepts, customer specifications, and technical requirements into detailed manufacturing drawings that comply with company standards, customer specifications, applicable engineering standards, and quality management system requirements. The Engineering Draught /Draft Engineer/Specialist plays an important role in ensuring engineering documentation is accurate, properly controlled, revision-managed, and readily available to support manufacturing, product development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement activities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Engineering Drafting & CAD Design Prepare accurate 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models using approved CAD software.Produce detailed manufacturing drawings in accordance with engineering standards and company drafting practices.Interpret engineering sketches, customer drawings, technical specifications, standards, and design requirements.Apply appropriate dimensions, tolerances, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) where applicable.Ensure drawings contain complete manufacturing information, including materials, finishes, heat treatment, coatings, and special characteristics.Maintain high levels of drawing accuracy and consistency. 2. Engineering Documentation & Document Control Maintain engineering drawings in accordance with document control procedures.Manage engineering drawing revisions using approved revision control processes.Ensure obsolete drawings are withdrawn and superseded versions are properly released.Maintain engineering databases, drawing registers, and document archives.Ensure engineering documentation complies with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 document control requirements.Support engineering change documentation and revision history management. 3. Product Development Support Assist engineers in preparing drawings for new product development.Prepare prototype drawings and engineering documentation.Update drawings following engineering design reviewsAssist with engineering validation and product verification activities.Prepare customer submission drawings where required.Support engineering activities throughout the product development lifecycle. 4. Manufacturing & Production Support Prepare production-ready drawings for manufacturing.Work closely with Production to ensure drawings are practical and manufacturable.Update drawings to reflect approved process improvements.Assist in resolving drawing-related production issues.Support tooling modifications by preparing revised engineering drawings.Participate in engineering discussions regarding manufacturability improvements. 5. Engineering Change Management Support implementation of Engineering Change Requests (ECR).Prepare Engineering Change Notices (ECN)Ensure drawing revisions accurately reflect approved engineering changes.Update Bills of Materials (BOMs) where applicable.cable. Maintain complete traceability of engineering revisions.Ensure engineering documentation remains current throughout the product lifecycle. 6. Quality, Standards & Compliance Ensure drawings comply with customer specifications and internal engineering standards.Support compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality management requirements. Prepare inspection drawings to support Quality Assurance.Support PPAP documentation where required. Ensure engineering documentation supports manufacturing traceability.Assist during customer and certification audits relating to engineering documentation.Support corrective and preventive actions relating to engineering documentation. 7. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve drafting efficiency.Recommend improvements to drawing standards.Support engineering standardisation initiatives.Assist with reducing drawing errors and rework .Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities.Support standardisation of engineering documentation across the business. 8.
