As a Software Engineer focused on React/Next.js at TrueBlue, your role is crucial in designing, developing, and maintaining responsive web applications. Here are the key responsibilities you will be handling: - Design, develop, and maintain responsive web applications using React and Next.js. - Write clean, efficient, and well-documented JavaScript and TypeScript code. - Implement and enforce UI/UX best practices, translating design mockups into polished interfaces using Tailwind CSS. - Ensure all interfaces meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards. - Develop and consume RESTful APIs; work with JSON data structures and Swagger/OpenAPI documentation. - Interact with relational databases for data retrieval and management. - Build and maintain server-side logic using Node.js, Next.js; manage application processes with PM2. - Containerise applications using Docker and contribute to orchestration workflows. - Collaborate within agile sprints - participating in standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. - Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines, promoting DevOps culture and automated testing. - Implement and uphold web security best practices (OWASP, input validation, authentication patterns, secure headers). - Conduct peer code reviews, maintain version control hygiene using Git, and participate in technical discussions. - Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations across the frontend and backend. For this role, you are expected to have the following skills and experience: Core Frontend: - Exceptional proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), including async/await, closures, and modern language features. - Strong experience with React (hooks, context, component architecture) and Next.js (SSR, SSG, App Router). - Solid command of TypeScript in a production codebase. - Proficiency with Tailwind CSS for utility-first, responsive styling. - In-depth knowledge of HTML5 (with backward compatibility awareness of HTML4 patterns) and modern CSS (Flexbox, Grid, custom properties, animations). Accessibility & UI/UX: - Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 guidelines and practical experience implementing accessible components (ARIA, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, focus management). - An eye for design detail; ability to collaborate closely with UX designers and implement pixel-accurate interfaces. Backend & APIs: - Extensive experience with Node.js and Next.js for server-side development, including REST API construction and middleware patterns. - Familiarity with PM2 for process management and application monitoring in production environments. - Experience working with JSON data formats and Swagger/OpenAPI for API documentation and contract-first development. - Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and experience integrating third-party web services. - Competence with SQL - writing queries, understanding schema design, and working with relational databases. DevOps & Infrastructure: - Experience with Docker for containerization; familiarity with orchestration concepts. - Hands-on experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent). - Comfortable working within DevOps practices including automated testing, environment parity, and infrastructure-as-code concepts. Security: - Practical knowledge of web application security principles - OWASP Top 10, secure coding standards, authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth 2.0, JWT), and protection against common vulnerabilities (XSS, CSRF, SQL injection). Tooling & Process: - Strong command of Git for version control - branching strategies, pull request workflows, and code review practices. - Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools such as Jira. Nice to Have: - Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, or Cypress. - Familiarity with state management libraries (Zustand or Redux Toolkit). - Familiarity with react UI frameworks (MUI or AntD). - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and serverless architectures. - Experience with monorepo tooling (Turborepo). - Familiarity with web performance profiling (Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse). - Knowledge of AI/LLM integration and familiarity with AWS Bedrock. - Exposure to GraphQL APIs.
