Job Description: Senior Mainframe Developer (10+ Years Experience) Position Senior Mainframe Developer Experience 10+ years Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Senior Mainframe Developer with 10+ years of expertise in designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise mainframe applications. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills in COBOL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, and JCL, with extensive experience in application maintenance, production support, performance optimization, and system integration. Knowledge of distributed technologies and modern integration patterns is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain enterprise mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, and JCL. Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions. Lead application enhancements, modernization initiatives, and production support activities. Perform detailed impact analysis, code reviews, and technical design documentation. Optimize application and database performance through efficient coding and SQL tuning. Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues while ensuring minimal business impact. Coordinate with business users, architects, QA teams, and cross-functional development teams. Support application deployments, release management, and change implementation. Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance and best practices. Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and organizational processes. Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives. Required Skills 10+ years of hands-on experience in IBM Mainframe application development. Strong expertise in COBOL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, and JCL. Extensive experience in batch processing, online transaction processing, and DB2 programming. Strong knowledge of SQL, database design, and performance tuning. Experience in application debugging, incident resolution, and production support. Good understanding of SDLC, change management, and release processes. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Skills Knowledge of distributed systems and integration with mainframe applications. Experience with REST APIs, IBM MQ, web services, Java, or .NET integration. Exposure to mainframe modernization and cloud integration initiatives. Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, source code management, and Agile methodologies. Domain experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance (BFSI), or other large enterprise environments. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. Relevant certifications in IBM Mainframe technologies are an advantage.
