About the role
Job Description Senior Engineer Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Location: Mumbai / Pune Role Summary We are looking for a Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager BESS to support technical due diligence, engineering review, project monitoring, and commissioning of standalone and hybrid (Solar/Wind + BESS) energy storage projects. The role involves ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities Conduct Technical Due Diligence (TDD) for standalone and hybrid BESS projects. Review feasibility studies, DPRs, energy yield assessments, grid studies, and engineering documents. Evaluate battery technologies, degradation, lifecycle performance, and system sizing. Review SLDs, layouts, protection schemes, EMS/SCADA architecture, and detailed engineering. Monitor project execution, conduct site inspections, and ensure quality and contractual compliance. Review FAT, SAT, commissioning reports, and performance testing. Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, UL, NFPA, CEA, and applicable regulatory standards. Coordinate with clients, EPC contractors, OEMs, and project stakeholders. Technical Skills Robust knowledge of Li-ion BESS (LFP/NMC), PCS, EMS, SCADA, and BMS. Understanding of grid integration, power system studies, battery degradation, thermal management, and fire protection. Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, UL, NFPA, and CEA standards. Proficiency in ETAP, DIgSILENT, PVSyst (preferred), AutoCAD, and MS Office. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in electrical, Power, or Energy Engineering (master's preferred). 58 years of experience in renewable energy, including 24 years in BESS engineering, consulting, or project execution.
