At UKG, security is at the core of everything we do. Were looking for a high-impact Lead Security Engineer who thrives in building, automating, and scaling modern security operations. This is not a passive oversight role it is a hands-on technical leader who can own the security stack end-to-end, drive innovation, and elevate how security is executed across the organization. We are looking for a full-stack security engineer mindset: someone who can take a security vision or problem statement, translate it into actionable use cases and technical requirements, architect scalable solutions, and drive execution through final delivery and operationalization. This role requires an individual who is equally comfortable designing strategy, writing automation, integrating platforms, and partnering across teams to bring security capabilities from concept to production. Youll operate at the intersection of security engineering, automation, and AI, transforming traditional security operations into a highly efficient, intelligence-driven capability. Key Responsibilities - Full lifecycle ownership of critical security with 4 major pillars o Visibility, Prevention, Protection, and Detection with the following technologies: EDR, Vulnerability Scanning, SSPM, CSPM, DSPM, Identity and Password Management, Security Hardening - Design and implement automation and AI capabilities to create a security first operation to accelerate detection, response, and operational workflows across endpoints, cloud, SaaS platforms, to generate a great user experience - Evaluate and rapidly POC next-gen security technologies, tool adoption and optimizationnot just deploying tools, but ensuring they deliver measurable value within and outside of Global Security - Acting as the technical authority across endpoint, cloud, SaaS, and data security domains - Build automation pipelines (APIs, scripting, SOAR, AI agents) to eliminate repetitive work and scale operations for example using Python, PowerShell, Golang, etc - Leverage AI/ML technologies to: o Enhance threat detection and triage o Reduce health alert fatigue o Accelerate decision-making and response times o Optimize security operations or workflows - Lead vulnerability scanning at scaleprioritization, assisting vulnerability management team to orchestrate remediation, and reduce risk - Partner deeply with engineering, cloud, and infrastructure teams to embed security into the delivery lifecycle - Serve as the go-to escalation point for complex technical challenges, investigation and incidents - Mentor engineers and raise the bar for technical excellence and execution - Participate in oncall rotation and outages________________________________________ Required Qualifications - 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity or security engineering roles - Hands-on experience managing and operating: o EDR platforms (e.g., CrowdStrike, Defender, SentinelOne) o Vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, CrowdStrike) o SSPM, CSPM, and DSPM solutions o Password management platforms (e.g., CyberArk, 1Password, LastPass Enterprise) o Containers and Serverless technologies o Develop and iterate infrastructure as code - Strong understanding of: o Cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) o Endpoint and network security principles o Identity and access management concepts o Active Directory, LDAP, or other directory services - Experience building or leveraging automation (e.g., scripting, APIs, SOAR platforms) - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced workplace Preferred Qualifications - Security certifications such as: o CISSP, CISM, or equivalent o Cloud security certifications or equivalent (e.g., CCSP, AWS Security Specialty) - Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, CIS) - Prior experience in a lead or senior engineering role Key Attributes - Hands-on technical leader with a strong sense of ownership - Ability to balance strategy with execution - Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills - Continuous learner with a focus on innovation and automation Summary This role is ideal for a security engineer who Why
