Primary Responsibilities: - Provide leadership and be accountable for delivery of key programs focused on AI/ML - Offer technical leadership in architecture, engineering, and data strategy while establishing best practices for programs - Focus on design, development, and implementation of software solutions using Generative AI, AI/ML technologies - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve business problems using AI, Machine Learning, and/or Reinforcement Learning - Ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and high-performing software systems - Stay current with the latest advancements in Generative AI and integrate them into projects - Lead and mentor junior engineers and contribute to team professional growth - Drive improvement beyond minimal compliance even in legacy assets - Partner effectively with the EIS (Security) and Infrastructure teams when implementing solutions - Maintain working knowledge of UHG Security Policies, Tools, and Processes Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field - 10+ years of Professional IT experience in software engineering and engineering leadership roles - 5+ years of software engineering/development experience with one or more of the following languages: Python, Golang, JavaScript, or TypeScript - Experience with DevOps methodologies and enabling Automation within development teams - Knowledge and understanding of diverse platforms and operating systems, including current and emerging technologies using cloud (Azure, GCP, and/or AWS) - Solid theoretical and practical knowledge of some or most Deep Learning techniques across Recurrent Neural Networks, Convolutional Neural Networks, etc., and Transformer Architectures as applied in the domains of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and/or Computer Vision (CV) - Consistent track record of building and successfully deploying Machine Learning solutions with demonstrable value to the organization Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in Healthcare industry in domains like Claims, Provider, Member, Eligibility, or Sales/Marketing - Proven solid written and verbal communication skills - Highly motivated with proven success meeting commitments in a deadline-driven environment with multiple competing priorities - Ability to lead change and innovation, pursue opportunities to adopt new technologies, and drive adoption to enhance business outcomes - Ability to develop relationships across technical, management, and executive levels - Ability to juggle multiple projects and timelines while keeping customers, team, and leadership aware of status At UnitedHealth Group, the mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
