Position: Manager / Deputy Manager EHS & Process Safety Location Thane, Maharashtra Function R&D Centre – Crop Protection Research & Development Experience 8–12 Years Qualification Essential Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS) B.E./B.Tech (Chemical / Environmental) OR M.Sc. Environmental Science / Industrial Safety Certified Safety Professional qualifications preferred Preferred Additional Certifications PSM (Process Safety Management) HAZOP Leader / HAZOP Participant Training Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) NEBOSH IGC / Diploma IOSH Managing Safely ISO 45001 Lead Auditor ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis Emergency Response & Crisis Management Role Purpose To drive Environment, Health, Safety and Process Safety excellence at the Thane R&D Centre by ensuring full statutory compliance, fostering a strong safety culture, implementing Process Safety Management systems, and supporting safe scale-up of new chemical processes from laboratory to pilot and manufacturing scale. Key Responsibilities Workplace Safety Management Lead and monitor all occupational health and safety programs across laboratories, pilot plants and utility areas. Drive Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) initiatives and develop a proactive safety culture. Conduct routine safety inspections, audits and compliance reviews. Ensure implementation of Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems. Conduct safety induction and periodic training for employees and contractors. Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions. Regulatory & Statutory Compliance Ensure compliance with: Maharashtra Factories Rules Factories Act MPCB requirements CPCB requirements MSIHC Rules Hazardous Waste Rules Chemical Accidents Rules Environmental Protection Act Manage Consent to Operate (CTO) and Consent to Establish (CTE) activities. Coordinate submissions through MPCB, OCMS and related regulatory portals. Ensure timely statutory reporting and regulatory renewals. Process Safety Management (PSM) Implement and maintain Process Safety Management systems. Facilitate: HAZOP Studies What-If Analysis PHA Reviews Risk Assessments PSSR (Pre-Startup Safety Reviews) Support safe technology transfer and scale-up activities. Review MOC (Management of Change) proposals. Evaluate process hazards associated with new chemistry and pilot plant operations. Support emergency preparedness and consequence analysis. Environmental Management Monitor environmental compliance requirements. Supervise hazardous waste management and disposal. Ensure compliance of ETP/STP systems and environmental monitoring programs. Drive sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives. Emergency Preparedness Lead emergency response planning. Conduct mock drills for: Fire Toxic gas release Chemical spill scenarios Maintain readiness of firefighting and emergency response equipment. Management Systems Maintain and improve: ISO 45001 ISO 14001 Responsible Care systems (if applicable) Coordinate internal and external audits. Desired Candidate Profile Technical Competencies Strong knowledge of: MPCB Regulations Factory Act Compliance Occupational Health & Safety Chemical Process Safety Hazardous Chemical Management Industrial Hygiene EHS Management Systems Experience in chemical, agrochemical, specialty chemical, pharmaceutical or manufacturing industries. Hands-on experience in: HIRA, JSA, RCA, PTW, MOC, PSSR, HAZOP Behavioural Competencies Strong leadership and influencing skills. Excellent communication and training capability. Ability to drive cultural change and improve safety behaviour. Strong stakeholder management skills. Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
