Job Description – Technical Product Owner (Payment Domain – US Market) Job Title Technical Product Owner – Payment Domain (US Market) Experience Range 8–12 Years Hiring Location Open / Hybrid (Based on Business Requirement) Must-Have Skills

Product Ownership and Product Backlog Management Strong experience in US Payment Gateway and Payment Processing domain Deep understanding of the complete US payment transaction lifecycle Experience with:

Payment Authorization Capture Settlement Refunds Voids Chargebacks Recurring Payments Tokenization Fraud Management

Knowledge of payment ecosystem involving:

Payment Gateways Payment Processors Card Networks (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) Acquiring Banks Merchants

Experience gathering and translating business requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria Strong stakeholder management across Business, Engineering, QA, Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams Agile/Scrum methodology with experience in Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Reviews, and Retrospectives Experience working with API-based payment integrations Strong Business Analysis and Requirement Gathering skills Knowledge of Authentication, Authorization, Compliance, and Risk Management in payment systems Ability to work closely with Engineering teams throughout the SDLC Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Good-to-Have Skills

Experience with Payment Gateway Platform Migration/Modernization Legacy platform decommissioning Feature parity analysis and phased migration planning Knowledge of microservices architecture Experience with cloud-native payment platforms API strategy and integration design Experience integrating with third-party payment providers and merchant platforms Understanding of PCI-DSS, payment security standards, and fraud prevention technologies Exposure to payment processor and acquiring bank integrations

Key Responsibilities Product Ownership

Own and manage the product backlog for payment gateway initiatives. Gather, analyze, prioritize, and refine business requirements. Define user stories, acceptance criteria, and product specifications. Drive product roadmap planning and execution. Collaborate with Engineering, QA, Architects, and Business stakeholders throughout the SDLC. Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Grooming, Reviews, and Retrospectives.

Payment Domain Expertise

Understand and manage the end-to-end payment processing lifecycle in the US market. Define and enhance payment gateway capabilities including:

Authorization Capture Settlement Refunds Voids Chargebacks Recurring Payments Tokenization Fraud Detection and Prevention

Work with payment processors, acquirers, card networks, merchants, and third-party payment providers. Support payment gateway integrations with merchant platforms and external payment services.

Technical Responsibilities

Translate business requirements into technical solutions. Collaborate with architects and engineering teams on API-driven payment solutions. Review technical designs to ensure alignment with business goals. Drive API strategy and integration requirements. Understand microservices-based architectures and cloud-native payment platforms.

Stakeholder Management

Partner with Business, Operations, Engineering, Compliance, Risk, and external vendors. Communicate product vision, roadmap, priorities, and delivery progress. Manage cross-functional dependencies and ensure successful product delivery.

Required Domain Knowledge The candidate should possess strong knowledge of the US Payments Ecosystem , including:

Complete payment transaction lifecycle Payment Gateway architecture Payment Processors Card Networks (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) Acquiring Banks Merchant Services Payment Authentication and Authorization Payment Security and Compliance Fraud Detection and Risk Management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field. Product Owner/Product Management certifications (CSPO, PSPO) are preferred. Experience working with enterprise payment platforms and financial services organizations. Proven experience delivering scalable payment products in Agile environments.
