Role Overview
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will lead the design and development of complex mechanical and electro-mechanical subsystems for regulated medical device products. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong design judgment, and the ability to collaborate across multiple engineering and manufacturing functions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and execution of complex mechanical and electro-mechanical subsystems for medical devices
Perform advanced engineering analysis to ensure design intent, reliability, and robustness
Develop, review, and approve detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using GD&T best practices
Drive engineering changes through PLM systems, ensuring proper documentation and approvals
Conduct root-cause analysis and troubleshooting for complex design and field issues
Apply FMEA and DFMA methodologies to improve product quality, manufacturability, and risk mitigation
Collaborate closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Field Service teams throughout the product lifecycle
Support design verification, validation, and design transfer activities
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers when required
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
8–10+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical product design within FDA-regulated environments
Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools, preferably Siemens NX
Expert-level knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, castings, and plastic injection molding
Experience with PLM systems and formal engineering change processes
Proven ability to lead complex technical problem-solving efforts
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering

Experience with motion systems and electro-mechanical assemblies

Hands-on experience with simulation tools such as FEA and CFD

Strong background in design for manufacturability and assembly
