Position: Sr. Manufacturing Engineer Location: Burnet, TX Department: Manufacturing Engineering Industry: Specialty Chemicals (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team in Burnet, TX. This role is focused on sustaining and continuously improving specialty chemical manufacturing processes, particularly purification processes and related equipment, for products used in semiconductor manufacturing. You will play a key role in driving process improvements, ensuring safety, and delivering operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

Champion a “Safety First” culture by performing equipment, process, and behavioral audits.

Recommend and implement solutions to eliminate safety risks.

Process Improvement & Capacity Expansion

Develop and execute strategies to expand manufacturing capacity for mid-to-high volume products and processes.

Reduce process variation and cost while improving product yields.

Collaboration & Communication

Work closely with marketing, facilities, operations, and other teams to drive results.

Partner with leadership to shape departmental direction.

Problem Solving & Troubleshooting

Lead troubleshooting of manufacturing issues and collaborate with production personnel to implement sustainable solutions.

Perform failure analysis testing on returned products and work with Quality to implement corrective actions.

Technical Excellence

Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to prevent recurrence of failures.

Create and maintain process documentation including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, recipes, and work instructions.

Standardize and consolidate existing process documentation for operator use.

Project & Capital Management

Submit capital investment requests with business case justifications.

Lead execution of capital projects.

New Product Introduction

Collaborate with New Product Development to ensure smooth transition of new products into manufacturing.

Verify process robustness, documentation, and training prior to launch.

Mentorship

Coach and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.

  • 5+ years in operations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of equipment supporting chemical purification and/or packaging.

  • Proven leadership in cross-functional project execution and problem-solving.

  • Experience with:

  • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)

  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

  • Control Logic Diagrams

  • Instrumentation selection

  • Valve and line sizing

  • FMEA or similar risk assessment tools

  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)

  • Strong ability to present technical data to all organizational levels.

  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and wear required PPE.

  • Willingness to travel domestically/internationally (<5%).

  • Preferred

  • Experience with ISO quality standards and management-of-change processes.

  • Knowledge of chemical compatibility studies.

  • Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and DOT 49 CFR hazardous materials transport regulations.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.

  • Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • On-site role with exposure to chemical processing environments.

  • PPE required as per safety standards.

  • Occasional travel as needed.
