About the role
Backend systems integration in an enterprise environment, Payment Rails (SWIFT, SEPA, FedWire, or card networks), Core Banking Platforms (Temenos, Finastra, Fiserv, or similar), Go/C#/Python, Architect the Enterprise Integration Strategy:** • Design and own the canonical integration patterns and best practices for the entire organization, covering API consumption, authentication, security, error handling, and monitoring. • Define the architecture for building robust, reusable, and fault-tolerant integration adapters as microservices. Lead Critical Integration Projects:** • Take hands-on ownership of the most complex and mission-critical integration efforts, such as the deep integration with the Fireblocks custody platform, the connection to the Temenos core banking ledger, and the build-out of our multi-rail payment gateways. Act as Primary Technical Liaison:** • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for all external partners and vendors, from initial API discovery and evaluation to managing ongoing technical relationships. Ensure Security and Reliability:** • Architect and implement ironclad security for all integrations, including the management of API keys, credentials, and mTLS. • Design and build robust resiliency patterns (e.g., retries, circuit breakers, dead-letter queues) to handle failures from external systems gracefully. Mentor and Guide:** • Provide expert guidance and mentorship to other backend developers across the organization on how to build secure and reliable integrations. • Conduct design and code reviews for all integration-related work. Must-Have:** • Professional Experience:** 15+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a minimum of 8-10 years focused specifically on complex, backend systems integration in an enterprise environment. • Financial Integration Mastery:** Deep, proven experience integrating with core financial systems. This must include hands-on experience with at least two of the following: • Payment Rails** (SWIFT, SEPA, FedWire, or card networks) •Core Banking Platforms** (Temenos, Finastra, Fiserv, or similar) • Institutional Trading or Custody Systems** • Expertise in API Protocols:** Mastery of various API technologies and protocols beyond just REST, including WebSocket, FIX, and message-based integrations. • Architectural Leadership:** A demonstrable track record of designing integration architectures and patterns for large-scale systems. • Strong Backend Proficiency:** Expert-level programming skills in a modern backend language such as Go, C#, or Python. • Security-First Mindset:** Deep expertise in API security patterns, authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth 2.0, mTLS), and secure credential management. Nice-to-Have (Highly Desirable):** • Crypto-Native Integration Experience:** Direct, hands-on experience integrating with digital asset custody platforms (especially Fireblocks), stablecoin issuers (Circle), or blockchain data providers. • Integration Platforms:** Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Apache Camel), even if you prefer building custom services. • Cloud-Native Experience:** Experience building integration services in a cloud-native, Kubernetes-based environment.
