Job Title Business Data Modeler Job Description Your responsibilities As a Business Data Modeler, you play an important role in creating a shared understanding of Vanderlande's business processes, information, and terminology. You translate business needs and domain knowledge into clear business object models and business data models that support consistent decision-making and collaboration across the organization. Your primary focus is understanding how business domains operate and identifying the key business concepts, relationships, and information flows that underpin them. In this role, you act as a bridge between business and IT, helping stakeholders develop a common view of the business and its information. You work closely with business stakeholders, data stewards, domain experts, architects, and analysts to capture, structure, and document business knowledge in a way that is understandable, reusable, and future-proof. In this role, you: Engage with business stakeholders, data stewards to create a shared understanding of business processes, objectives, terminology, and information needs. Analyse business processes and identify key business concepts, objects, and relationships. Translate business knowledge into clear business object models and business data models. Improve the quality, usability, and adoption of the business data model. Document and maintain business definitions, relationships, and modeling standards. Collaborate with architects, analysts, and ICT colleagues to ensure business concepts are consistently represented across processes and systems. Support data governance by promoting consistent business definitions, data ownership, and shared understanding of information. Promote the use and value of business modeling across the organization and contribute to the continuous improvement of modeling practices. Your skills & competencies We are looking for an enthusiastic, curious, and business-oriented professional who enjoys understanding how businesses operate and who can translate complex information into clear and structured models. You bring: A bachelor’s degree in information management, Business Administration, Business Information Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 10+ years of experience working with business processes, data analytics, information management or business analysis. Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand and structure complex business processes and information. Understanding of data governance, business glossaries, data ownership, data quality, master data, or business architecture concepts. The ability to identify patterns, relationships, and concepts across processes and organizational boundaries. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders from different backgrounds. The ability to facilitate discussions, ask the right questions, and challenge assumptions constructively. A structured and detail-oriented way of working. A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn. Nice to have: Experience with business analysis, information analysis, process modeling, or business object modeling. Familiarity with modeling techniques such as UML or BPMN. Awareness of Data Products, Data Mesh, or domain-oriented data ownership. Experience working in a complex, international organization. Familiarity with Agile ways of working.
