Manager, Data Engineering

As the Manager, Data Engineering at Vanguard's India office in Hyderabad, Telangana, your role involves leading a team of data engineers to design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. Your focus will be on enabling high-performance data workflows, ensuring seamless data integration, and driving automation to enhance data accessibility. Core Responsibilities: - Partner with internal and external clients to understand business functions and informational needs. Collaborate with technical and data analytics experts to implement data solutions. - Hire, evaluate, and supervise team members. Provide guidance and training for their development. Set performance standards, review performance, and make compensation decisions. - Manage and optimize automation of ETL processes and quality assurance for large data volumes. - Consult with department heads on implementation plans and lead a team of Data Engineers to execute these plans. - Plan, prioritize, and execute data production projects and processes. - Troubleshoot and manage the design and development of software and processes to support efficient data pipelines. - Translate business specifications into design specifications and write code. Ensure code is well-structured, documented, and easy to maintain. - Develop cross-functional data delivery to meet business needs and maintain data integrity and quality standards. - Educate and develop junior data engineers while maintaining quality control. Contribute expertise to other data expert teams. Qualifications and Skills: - Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing data engineering teams. - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or Diploma in Data Science/Data Engineering. - Strong people leadership experience, with exposure to teams of more than five people. - Experience in medium to large businesses dealing with large data volumes. - Excellent communication skills and ability to simplify complex problems. - Proficiency in Python/Pyspark, DBA concepts, AWS resources, SCRUM-Agile mindset, and data analysis methodologies. - Understanding of data engineering standards, CI/CD workflows, and SDLC concepts.
