About the role
The Local Support Team Manager - Chassis & Powertrain is responsible for end-to-end engineering ownership and execution of chassis and powertrain systems within India operations. The role focuses on ensuring alignment between design intent and plant execution, driving effective problem solving, validation, and quality improvements. In addition, the role will remotely oversee engineering requirements for the Indonesia plant, acting as the primary interface with HQ Engineering for all engineering-related activities. This position carries strong ownership of engineering coordination, change management, cost alignment, and localization execution, ensuring timely program delivery and issue closure. Key Responsibilities Engineering Ownership (Chassis & Powertrain) Lead engineering activities for chassis and powertrain systems Support plant operations in resolving production, quality, and field issues Ensure compliance with performance, durability, and safety requirements Engineering Coordination & HQ Interface Act as the primary engineering interface with HQ Engineering Lead all technical communication and alignment activities Ensure seamless coordination between: India plant teams, Indonesia & Vietnam plant (remote support), HQ engineering Indonesia Remote Support (Key Responsibility) Remotely oversee engineering requirements for the Indonesia plant Provide end-to-end support for: Issue resolution, Validation activities, Change implementation Ensure alignment across India Indonesia HQ engineering teams Problem Solving & 8D Leadership Lead structured problem solving using: G8D / 8D methodology RCA, ICA, PCA Drive 8D preparation and closure for all engineering issues Ensure timely issue containment and permanent corrective actions Requirements Education: Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical / Automotive / Mechatronics Engineering Experience: 15 - 20 years of experience in Automotive Engineering Chassis Key Skills Strong expertise in suspension, steering, and braking systems Good understanding of vehicle dynamics, ride & handling, and stability Experience in NVH, vibration, and durability issues Knowledge of alignment, geometry, and chassis performance tuning Ability to resolve handling, vibration, and road performance issues Powertrain & Thermal Management Key Skills Strong expertise in driveline, propulsion, and power delivery systems Good understanding of thermal management systems, including: Cooling systems (engine / battery / e-motor cooling) HVAC integration and performance Thermal load and heat rejection Experience in powertrain NVH and durability Ability to troubleshoot thermal and performance-related issues Exposure to validation and testing of powertrain systems Common Engineering Skills Strong capability in G8D / RCA / ICA / PCA problem solving Hands-on experience in vehicle trials, validation, and plant support Good knowledge of DCR / ECR processes and change management Strong coordination with HQ, plant teams, and suppliers Ability to handle multi-program and cross-regional responsibilities Disclaimer: This job posting has been aggregated from external source.
