About the role
You are a passionate and highly motivated Machine Learning Intern with 0-12 months of experience, eager to develop algorithms for predicting the future position of high-speed drones using sensor and telemetry data. You will have the opportunity to work on real-world time-series data and build low-latency, high-accuracy prediction models for dynamic motion tracking. Responsibilities: - Develop machine learning models for drone trajectory and future position prediction - Work with time-series data from sensors such as: - IMU (accelerometer, gyroscope) - GNSS / GPS - Magnetometer / Barometer (optional) - Implement and evaluate algorithms like: - Kalman Filter / Extended Kalman Filter - LSTM / GRU / RNN models - Regression & state estimation techniques - Perform data preprocessing, feature engineering, and noise filtering - Optimize models for real-time inference (low latency) - Collaborate with hardware & embedded teams for deployment - Validate models using simulation and real-world datasets - Document models, experiments, and performance metrics Desired Candidate Profile: Core Technical Skills: - Strong fundamentals in: - Machine Learning basics - Linear Algebra, Probability, and Statistics - Knowledge of: - Time-series analysis & prediction - State estimation concepts - Programming skills in: - Python (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn) - Familiarity with: - PyTorch or TensorFlow (basic level) - Understanding of: - Sensor data handling and noise characteristics - Basic knowledge of: - Coordinate systems (ECEF, NED, etc.) Soft Skills & Work Approach: - Ability to interpret datasheets and technical documentation - Cross-functional collaboration (working with firmware/software/hardware teams) - Agile and iterative prototyping mindset Qualifications: - BE/BTech/MTech in: - Computer Science - Electronics / Electrical Engineering - Robotics / AI / Data Science - Or related discipline Join Vir Innovations and be a part of a team that empowers you to learn, innovate, and make a real impact in the field of defence technology.
