Remote Senior/ Staff Backend Engineer, Python or Golang, AI, Remote, US only

Space Executive is looking for a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer to join their Backend Engineering team focused on a scalable platform for ML observability. The role involves tackling engineering challenges in the AI and LLM space, including building APIs and backend services to support these applications.ResponsibilitiesWrite maintainable, scalable, and performant backend code primarily in Python and Go, with opportunities to work in TypeScriptBuild high-volume, highly available analytics systemsDesign and build APIs specific to customers' Machine Learning and LLM workflowsPrototype, optimize, and maintain scalable backend services that power the core platformExtend, and contribute back to, open source OLAP databases and distributed message queue frameworksDevelop and integrate collection tools for robust monitoring of ML and LLM pipelinesResearch and implement cutting-edge visualization and dimensionality reduction algorithms in a distributed environmentCollaborate closely with product, design, and customer engineering teams to enhance and expand product offeringsContribute to building the company's own in-house AI AgentsSkills5+ years of experience working with high-performance backend systems, with proven scope at a senior or staff levelStrong experience writing Python, Go, TypeScript/Node, or similar server programming languagesGenuine, hands-on experience in the Gen AI/LLM space, with a real desire to build in this areaA mix of startup and big tech experience comfortable with startup pace and ownership, backed by the rigour of scaled engineering environmentsTrack record of building and operating highly complex SaaS platforms/systemsSolid knowledge of public clouds and container orchestration AWS, GCP, Azure, KubernetesExperience with distributed stream processing Kafka, Gazette, or similarExperience with OLAP systemsFamiliarity with system observability tooling such as PrometheusWorking knowledge of Machine Learning and/or Data ScienceBenefitsThis role is fully remote, with a remote-first culture and offices available in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area for those who prefer to work in-person.A monthly WFH stipend is provided to cover co-working space costs.Company OverviewSpace Executive specializes in recruiting senior management to executive level personnel.
