Role Purpose

The Senior Architect will lead master planning and architectural design governance for large-scale industrial hub developments. The role is responsible for translating business and manufacturing requirements into integrated site master plans and ensuring technical compliance, constructability, and quality through design reviews of all industrial buildings and infrastructure.

This role acts as a design authority, coordinating across engineering, construction, and stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, scalable, and sustainable industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Master Planning & Site Development

Lead development of integrated site master plans for industrial hubs (factories, logistics, utilities, infrastructure)

Define:

Land use zoning

Plot layouts and building placement

Internal road networks and access planning

Utility corridors and infrastructure systems

Incorporate:

Material flow, manpower flow, and logistics movement

Future expansion and phased development

Support site preparation, road access planning, and building siting decision

Industrial Building Design Oversight

Guide architectural design for:

Production buildings (BIW, Paint Shop, Assembly)

Warehouses and logistics facilities

Administrative and support buildings

Ensure alignment with:

Functional requirements (process-driven layouts)

Equipment layouts and operational needs

Validate spatial planning for:

Material handling

Worker safety and ergonomics

Operational efficiency

Design Review & Technical Governance

Lead and conduct multi-disciplinary design reviews across stages:

Concept, schematic, detailed design, and execution

Review and validate:

Structural parameters (span, loads, foundations)

Building systems (civil, structural, MEP, utilities)

Constructability and execution methodology

Ensure compliance with:

Design standards and codes

Project specifications

Safety and quality expectations

Support design review sessions, design sign-offs, and technical validation

Multidisciplinary Coordination

Coordinate with:

Engineering teams (civil, structural, MEP, process)

Project management consultants (PMC)

Contractors and vendors

Ensure integration of all design disciplines into cohesive solutions

Resolve design clashes and alignment issues

Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

Ensure all designs comply with:

Local building regulations and industrial standards

Environmental, fire safety, and legal requirements

Support preparation and submission of drawings for approvals (e.g., authorities such as pollution control, fire, planning bodies)

Sustainability & ESG Integration

Integrate sustainable design principles:

Energy-efficient buildings

Water and waste management systems

Green building standards

Ensure long-term environmental and operational efficiency of the site

Project Delivery Support

Support:

Architect/consultant selection (RFP inputs)

Design briefs and technical specifications

Tender documentation and evaluations

Participate in:

Quality inspections

Site coordination and issue resolution

Drive alignment between design intent and on-site execution

Key Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

Industrial master planning and site layout expertise

Strong knowledge of:

Industrial building design (PEB, RCC, process buildings)

Structural systems and utilities

Building codes and regulations

Design review & constructability assessment capability

Proficiency in:

BIM tools (Revit/Navisworks)

CAD tools

Site planning tools / GIS (preferred)

Functional Knowledge

Manufacturing processes and factory layouts

Logistics planning and material flow optimization

Infrastructure systems (roads, drainage, power, utilities)

Project & Coordination Skills

Stakeholder management across multiple functions

Ability to manage consultants and external architects

Risk identification and mitigation

Cost and schedule awareness

Soft Skills

Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability

Effective communication across technical and non-technical teams

Ability to challenge designs and drive improvements

Leadership in cross-functional environments

Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s / Master’s in Architecture

10+ years of experience (suggested) in:

Industrial projects / factory design / large campuses

Proven experience in:

Industrial master planning

Design coordination and design reviews

Execution support for large construction projects
