About the role
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Survey Department Manager to oversee the daily operations of our land surveying division. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for coordinating field and office teams, managing project schedules, and ensuring the delivery of accurate and reliable survey data. As a key driver of our team's success, you will actively engage in job acquisition, bidding, and client communication while maintaining strict quality control standards. The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) who excels in a collaborative environment and possesses a deep understanding of modern surveying practices and software. Job Roles and Responsibilities Direct and manage the daily operations of the survey department, overseeing licensed surveyors, CAD drafters, and field personnel.
Coordinate and schedule field crews and office staff to ensure optimal resource allocation and workflow efficiency.
Lead bidding processes, develop project scope proposals, and drive job acquisition for new survey projects.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, project managers, and engineers to ensure clear communication and project alignment.
Oversee project workloads, deadlines, and budgets to guarantee all survey projects are completed accurately and on time.
Maintain rigorous quality control and internal technical standards across all surveying deliverables.
Provide logistical support, equipment coordination, and technical guidance to survey field crews.
Identify and implement continuous improvements to survey processes, technology adoption, and operational workflows.
Qualifications and Certifications

Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License in the required state of operation (Dual licensure in neighboring states is a strong plus).

Proven leadership experience in land surveying operations, project management, or survey coordination.

Extensive technical proficiency with surveying software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble products.

Comprehensive knowledge of diverse surveying types, including Boundary, ALTA/NSPS Land Title, Topographic, As-Built, and Construction Staking.

Exceptional attention to detail, precision, and accuracy in all technical and administrative tasks.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage teams and client relationships.
