About the role
Position Summary... What you'll do... Position Summary Walmart International is looking for a Staff Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join the International Catalog Platform team within Walmart Global Tech. The International Catalog team is responsible for building and scaling the foundational catalog capabilities that power item onboarding, content management, assortment expansion, supplier experiences, catalog quality, compliance, discoverability, and operational excellence across Walmart’s international markets including Canada, Mexico, Chile, and emerging markets. As a Staff TPM, you will lead large-scale, cross-functional technology programs that drive catalog modernization, supplier enablement, item lifecycle management, catalog acceleration, compliance automation, data quality improvements, and platform transformation initiatives. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Business, Operations, Data Science, and Market teams to deliver scalable catalog solutions that accelerate assortment growth while maintaining quality, governance, and operational efficiency. This role requires a strong blend of program leadership, technical depth, business domain expertise, stakeholder management, data-driven decision making, and execution excellence. You will operate in highly complex environments involving multiple engineering teams, platform dependencies, and international business stakeholders while driving measurable business outcomes.
About the Team
The International Catalog Platform team builds and operates the foundational systems that enable Walmart’s international eCommerce ecosystem. The platform supports supplier onboarding, item creation, content enrichment, catalog governance, assortment expansion, search and discovery readiness, compliance validation, catalog quality management, and operational workflows that enable millions of products to be published across Walmart markets. The team partners with Product, Engineering, Business, Operations, Data Science, Merchandising, Marketplace, Supply Chain, and Supplier organizations to deliver scalable catalog capabilities that accelerate growth and improve customer and supplier experiences globally. As a Staff TPM, you will play a critical role in transforming the future of catalog management by driving complex programs that span multiple products, platforms, technologies, and markets.
What you'll do
Program Strategy, Planning & Execution Lead the planning and execution of large, complex catalog platform initiatives spanning multiple engineering and business organizations. Define program goals, milestones, delivery plans, critical paths, and success metrics aligned to strategic business priorities. Build comprehensive discovery, planning, execution, testing, rollout, and adoption plans for cross-functional programs. Drive program execution across multiple scrum teams while ensuring alignment between Product, Engineering, Architecture, Operations, and Business stakeholders. Identify synergies, overlaps, dependencies, and opportunities for platform simplification or capability reuse across catalog products. Establish scalable program governance mechanisms, execution frameworks, reporting structures, and operating cadences.
Technical Program Leadership Partner with architects and engineering leaders to develop end-to-end delivery strategies for complex platform initiatives. Participate in architecture reviews and technical design discussions to ensure scalability, resiliency, performance, security, and maintainability. Drive dependency management across catalog services, APIs, data platforms, supplier applications, and downstream consumer systems. Translate business capabilities into technical workstreams and delivery plans. Ensure robust release management practices including rollout strategies, rollback planning, operational readiness reviews, and production monitoring. Drive adoption of engineering best practices across testing, observability, operational excellence, incident management, and reliability engineering. Identify opportunities for automation, platform standardization, and modernization to improve delivery velocity and operational efficiency.
Catalog Domain Leadership Develop deep expertise in catalog management, item lifecycle management, supplier onboarding, content quality, taxonomy, compliance, assortment expansion, marketplace operations, and item governance. Partner with business teams to understand market-specific catalog requirements and operational challenges. Validate business requirements and ensure technology solutions deliver measurable business value. Drive initiatives that improve item setup speed, catalog accuracy, content completeness, operational efficiency, supplier adoption, and assortment growth. Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, analytics, AI, and automation to improve catalog operations and customer experience. Stay current with industry trends related to retail platforms, catalog systems, content management, search, personalization, and eCommerce operations.
Program Delivery & Operational Excellence Monitor program health through milestones, KPIs, dashboards, quality metrics, and business outcomes. Independently manage multiple medium-to-large scale programs with complex technical and organizational dependencies. Proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and drive issue resolution to maintain delivery commitments. Lead executive-level reviews, escalation management, decision forums, and cross-functional alignment discussions. Drive launch readiness, business sign-offs, operational preparedness, and post-launch stabilization activities. Continuously improve delivery processes, execution methodologies, risk management practices, and governance frameworks.
Stakeholder Leadership & Communication Build strong partnerships with Product Managers, Engineering Directors, Architects, Business Leaders, Operations Teams, Market Leaders, and Executive Stakeholders. Influence decisions through data-driven analysis, structured communication, and fact-based recommendations. Prepare executive-level status reports, program updates, business reviews, risk assessments, roadmap discussions, and strategic planning materials. Facilitate alignment across diverse stakeholder groups with competing priorities and organizational objectives. Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Establish clear ownership, accountability, governance models, and decision-making frameworks across programs.
Data-Driven Decision Making Define program success metrics aligned to business outcomes. Leverage program data, engineering metrics, operational insights, and business performance indicators to drive decisions. Analyze trends and performance signals to proactively identify bottlenecks, risks, and improvement opportunities. Develop program health dashboards and reporting frameworks that support informed decision-making. Present actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on quantitative and qualitative analysis.
What you'll bring
Technical Program Management Expertise 10+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Engineering Program Management, Software Engineering, or related technical leadership roles. Proven track record leading large-scale, cross-functional technology programs involving multiple engineering teams and stakeholders. Experience driving end-to-end delivery from concept through production launch and adoption. Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Program Increment Planning, and modern software delivery practices.
Technical Expertise Prior experience in software engineering, systems engineering, solutions architecture, or a similar technical discipline. Ability to engage in architecture reviews, technical design discussions, dependency management, and technology decision-making. Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native platforms, data platforms, service-oriented architectures, and platform engineering principles. Experience with operational excellence, observability, monitoring, incident management, and reliability engineering concepts.
Catalog & eCommerce Domain Knowledge Experience working in retail, eCommerce, marketplace, catalog management, content platforms, merchandising systems, item lifecycle management, or supplier-facing platforms. Strong understanding of catalog ecosystems including item setup, content management, taxonomy, compliance, assortment management, supplier onboarding, and data quality. Knowledge of modern eCommerce platform architectures and retail technology ecosystems.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management Exceptional ability to influence without authority across multiple organizational levels. Demonstrated experience managing complex stakeholder landscapes involving Product, Engineering, Business, Operations, and Executive Leadership. Ability to effectively navigate ambiguity, shifting priorities, and organizational change. Experience presenting to senior leaders and driving alignment on strategic initiatives.
Communication & Analytical Skills Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop executive-ready reports, business reviews, strategic presentations, roadmap updates, risk assessments, and operational communications. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision making. Experience synthesizing information from multiple sources into actionable insights.
Tools & Technologies Expertise using Jira, Confluence, project management tools, collaboration platforms, and reporting dashboards. Experience with program metrics, portfolio reporting, roadmap planning, and dependency tracking tools. Familiarity with cloud technologies, engineering delivery systems, and modern software development environments.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of experience in Engineering, Technical Program Management, Engineering Program Management, Product Management, or related area. 10+ years of experience in Engineering, Technical Program Management, Engineering Program Management, Product Management, or related area. Experience leading catalog platform, marketplace, merchandising, content management, supplier experience, or retail technology initiatives. Experience supporting global or multi-market technology organizations. Experience managing platform modernization, large-scale migrations, or enterprise transformation programs. PMP, PgMP, SAFe, Scrum, or equivalent program management certifications. Experience with supplier onboarding platforms, item management systems, catalog governance solutions, search and discovery platforms, or content lifecycle management systems. Demonstrated experience leading strategic programs that delivered measurable business impact at scale.
